UPSC examination for Indian Economic Services exam 2019

UPSC examination Union Public Service Commission is going to hold the Indian Economic Services/Indian Statistical Services Examination 2019 which commences from 28 June 2019.

This UPSC examination will be held for the recruitment of Junior Time Scale of the Indian Economic Services and Indian Statistical Services.

The UPSC examination will be held at various centres across the country.

The candidates who want to apply for the above-mentioned exam can apply online at www.upsconline.nic.in only. It is noted that no other mode is allowed for submission of application.

For details regarding Eligibility conditions, the syllabus and scheme of the examination, a centre of examination, the guidelines for filling up of application form etc., the aspirants must refer to the detailed notice of the examination which will be available on the following path in the commission’s website from 20 March 2019.

The Indian Economic Service (IES) is an organized Group ‘A’ Central Service.

The IES was constituted in 1961 with the objective of institutionalising a core professional capacity within the Government to undertake economic analysis and render advice for designing and formulating development policies, strengthening delivery systems, and monitoring and evaluating the public programmes.

With the initiation of large-scale economic reforms in 1991 and the proliferation of the regulatory role of the government, such analysis and advice within the domain of the service have increased manifold.

The Cadre Controlling of the IES is located in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Economic Affairs).

IES officers are exposed to almost all the sectors of government functioning. These officers also provide link and continuity in policy-making, which is essential even for policy change.

It is because of these factors that IES officers have been increasingly playing a versatile role, of an in-house economist with domain knowledge and experience.

After independence, economic reconstruction and development was envisioned as one of the foremost objective and a challenge to the national planners
