National Florence Nightanlge Nurse Award 2026 be the one- Nominations are open for the National Florence Nightingale Nurses Award for the year 2026, which takes place annually on May 12th to commemorate the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale. This prestigious award honors outstanding nursing professionals serving in Central Government, States/UTs, Private, Missionary, and Voluntary Organizations.
Each award comprises a cash prize of ₹1,00,000, a certificate, and a medal. The States can send or nominate up to five candidates in each of the following categories:

- Registered Nurses & Midwives
- Registered Lady Health Visitors

Eligibility Criteria:-
Minimum 10 years of experience in the respective category. In case of extraordinary performance age may not be a constraint.
The nominations should be from State Government, Central Government, Private Institutions/Missionaries and Prominent Voluntary Organisations of the concerned State.
All nominations should be handled by the Secretary (Health & Family Welfare) of the concerned State except Central Government Institutions, Autonomous Organisations.
Also, in case of Autonomous bodies the application / nominations is acceptable only if these are routed through its competent authorities as given below:

Railways – Southern, Northern, Western etc. Delhi HO
MNS- ADGMNS, IHQ of MOD (Army), Delhi
ESI Hospitals, All States-Delhi
RML Hospital / Safdarjung Hospital / LHMC etc. Competent Authority / Nodal Officer formed for selecting the nominations
It may be worth noting that all the Central Govt. Institutions such as Paramilitary Services, ESI Hospitals, Railways etc. shall send the nominations through their Selection Committee of the Organization
all the autonomous bodies such as AIIMS, Universities etc. shall have its own Selection Committee and shall send the nominations through the Head of the Organization.

Basis of Selection
SPECIAL SERVICES IN THE COMMUNITY / HOSPITAL
Section: Professional Contribution and Achievements
- National Health and Family Welfare Programmes (NRHM/NHM)
Candidates must highlight their significant contributions or active involvement in one or more of the following programmes:- Leprosy Control
- Tuberculosis
- HIV & AIDS
- Cancer Care
- Palliative Care
- Mental Health
- Geriatric Management
- Services for Special Children (mentally or physically challenged, underprivileged)
- Infectious Diseases
- COVID-19 Management and Control
- Any other relevant public health initiative
Note: Supporting documents should be submitted in Hindi or English (with translated versions if originally in a local language). Certificates in the local language must also be enclosed.
- In-Service Education
Details of participation in professional development activities such as conferences, seminars, workshops, and Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) programmes must be provided. - Recognition and Awards
Information on any honors, awards, or professional recognitions received at the institutional, state, or national level should be furnished. - Service in Challenging Locations
Specify any professional experience in tribal, hilly, remote, or difficult areas. - Educational Qualifications
Indicate academic achievements beyond the essential requirements:- For Nurse Educators or Researchers: higher or specialized qualifications will be given due consideration.
- Essential Qualification: Minimum B.Sc. Nursing for Tutor and M.Sc. Nursing for Lecturer.
