IIT Hyderabad And Nikon India Partnered To Set Up Coe At Its Campus

Nikon India a subsdiary of Nikon corporation has partnered with Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH) launched their India’s first “Centre of Excellence” (CoE) at the IITH. This Centre of Excellence will provide advanced imaging technologies to trainees, visiting scholars, and collaborators across the country, fostering impactful partnerships between IITH researchers and Nikon teams.

Being the hub for innovation, the centre will empower researchers to explore biological systems at various scales— from single cells to human tissues—facilitating breakthroughs in high-resolution imaging. The coordinator of the centre Dr. Shourya Dutta Gupta explained that the centre is equipped with state-of-the art imaging technologies, the CoE features an AXR point scanning confocal system with NSPARC superresolution and TIRF imaging capabilities. It also houses a Nikon inverted microscope Ti2-E for fluorescence imaging, a Nikon TS2FL inverted tissue culture microscope, and a Nikon SMZ 800 with a fluorescence attachment for macro imaging. Leveraging its extensive resources, technical expertise, and experienced staff, the Centre will address critical challenges in cell biology and other research areas, promoting innovative studies across a range of scientific disciplines. Ms. Aki Wakamiya, Mr. Kazutaka Watamahe, Deb Sekhar, and Mr. Mahavir Tanwar from Nikon India attended the inauguration session, where they expressed their enthusiasm for the partnership with IITH.
