CSAB BTech Admission 2027: Registration
CSAB 2027 will conduct three Special Rounds of seat allotment after JoSAA counselling, and fresh registration is mandatory for candidates who wish to participate. Candidates must register according to the schedule given in Annexure-3 of the Information Brochure.
Candidates who are not Indian Nationals by birth or naturalization and are not OCI/PIO card holders are not eligible for CSAB Special 2027 seat allocation to NITs, IIEST, IIITs, SPAs and other GFTIs. What is CSAB?

CSAB BTech Admission 2027: Eligibility Criteria
Candidates are divided into the following nine types based on their participation and seat status in JoSAA 2027:
- Type-1: Candidates who did not register for JoSAA 2027 but meet the required eligibility criteria.
- Type-2: Candidates who participated in JoSAA 2027 but were not allotted any seat.

Important for Type-6 candidates: They can participate in CSAB Special Rounds while retaining the seat for which they paid PAF during JoSAA. However, if they receive a new seat in CSAB Special Rounds, their previously retained seat will automatically be cancelled, and they cannot claim it back. They must submit the required declaration at the time of CSAB Special registration.
Important: Fresh registration is mandatory for CSAB Special Rounds. Candidates who fail to register within the prescribed schedule will not be considered for any CSAB Special Round.
CSAB BTech Admission 2027: Special Registration, Choice Filling, Seat Allotment and Reporting Rules
- Fresh registration is mandatory: All eligible candidates must register afresh on the CSAB portal. JoSAA registration is not valid for CSAB Special Rounds. Candidates should first ensure they meet the eligibility requirements.
- Details can be updated: Candidates whose documents were not verified in JoSAA may update their State of Eligibility, Nationality, Gender, and applicable Category during CSAB registration. - IAF-II payment: IAF-II is ₹35,000 for GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC-NCL and ₹16,000 for SC/ST/PwD. Type-6 candidates are exempt because they have already paid PAF through JoSAA.
- Withdrawal and Exit: Withdrawal is available before the last round and removes the candidate from further CSAB allotment. A candidate with no allotted seat can use the Exit option during the applicable early rounds; after the last round begins, Exit/Withdrawal is not available.
- PwD verification: PwD candidates whose status was not verified during JoSAA must complete the prescribed online or physical PwD verification at a selected verification centre within the specified counselling timeline.

Class 12 Percentage Requirement for CSAB/NIT+ System Admission
For admission to the NIT+ System, candidates must have appeared for Class 12/equivalent for the first time in 2025, 2026 or 2027 and meet either of these conditions:
- 75% aggregate marks in Class 12 with at least five subjects; 65% for SC, ST and PwD candidates, OR
- Be among the category-wise top 20 percentile of successful candidates in their respective board.
For B.E./B.Tech, the five subjects considered are Physics, Mathematics, one of Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/Technical Vocational, one language, and the subject with the highest marks among the remaining subjects. Candidates must pass each of these subjects.
For improvement candidates, specific rules apply. The marksheet must be from the same examination board, and where applicable, the best performance from eligible attempts is considered. If the board follows a semester, two-year, three-year diploma or similar system, the prescribed final-year/final-semester marks are used.

What to do after getting a seat in CSAB BTech Admission 2027?
Getting a seat does not mean that the CSAB BTech Admission 2027 process is complete. Candidates who receive a seat must complete online reporting within the specified deadline.
Online reporting includes:
- Exercising a willingness option
- Uploading required documents, wherever applicable
- Paying Institute Admission Fee-II
- Responding to queries raised during document verification

What are Freeze, Float, Slide, Surrender and Withdraw?
CSAB provides different willingness options after seat allotment.
Freeze
Freeze means the candidate accepts the allotted seat and does not want to participate in further rounds. The seat remains allocated to the candidate.
Float
Under Float, the candidate accepts the current seat but remains open to receiving a higher-preference programme at another institute in a subsequent round.
Slide
Slide means the candidate accepts the current seat but can move to a higher-preference academic programme within the same institute in a later round.
Surrender
Surrender means the candidate rejects the currently allotted seat but wants to participate in the next round. The surrendered seat is cancelled.
Withdraw

For example, once a candidate chooses Freeze, the option generally cannot subsequently be changed to Float, Slide or Surrender.
IAF-II Payment
Candidates who choose Freeze, Slide or Float and continue with the allotted seat are required to pay Institute Admission Fee-II (IAF-II).
For CSAB Special 2027, IAF-II was:
