NEET UG 2025 big Change – NEET UG may shift to online format, the purpose of shifting to online is to improve transparency and integrity in the examination. This move comes after the NEET 2024 paper leak and sent resentment to the students. As the result delayed so the admission process.

Ministry of Health and NTA are exploring the possibilities regarding this along with newly formed committee headed by former ISRO Chief K Radhakrishan. The committee was formed when the paper leak incident happened. The committee recommended certain measure to strengthen the examination framework

The committee suggested to do away pen and paper mode and adoption of computer-based testing (CBT) as a long-term solution to minimise security vulnerabilities. Additionally, it has recommended a hybrid model as an intermediary step.

Earlier Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also emphasised the need to transfer NEET UG exam from pen-and-paper mode to online mode during an interview with a leading media house.

The report also highlighted the transmission of paper-based content into a digital format. In this system, question papers would be digitally transmitted to exam centres, while students would write their answers on physical sheets.

The purpose of this practice  is designed to reduce the risks associated with the traditional paper-based process, including vulnerabilities during printing, storage, and transportation.

A monitoring group was set up to continuously advise and monitor NTA for future course of action. The main work of this group to act as a third-party oversight. The health ministry, being the primary client, is being consulted for its suggestions.

Looking all this development the ministry, the committee, and the NTA, expectation is high that the transition will shift towards computer-based testing (CBT).

The whole exercise is aimed at restoring confidence in the examination system and ensuring a secure, fair, and efficient process for all candidates. Chances are high that computer based examination may be implemented from Next NEET UG examination that will be conducted in May 2025.
