Admission in diploma course have increased this year thanks to the Maharashtra government decision to offer free technical education for girls, resulting in increase in engineering courses. There were over 32,000 admission in Pune division that consists of four districts. Last year there more than 28 thousand admission done.

Chandrakant Patil the state higher and technical education minister, declared that this year in August that all fees will be waived for girls from households with an annual income of less than ₹8 lakh. It will feature 642 different courses from various streams in the state.
There are total of 41793 seats available in 120 educational institutions for the academic year as confirmed by deputy directorate of technical education Pune division, with 32,644 admissions confirmed by students as of now.
It is because of the government free education to girls that admission in engineering diploma increased as mentioned by Dattatray Jadhav, Pune DTE divisional joint director.
Prachi Gondhale, is elated with admission in a private college and expressed her feeling, “I am glad that we have got admission for the diploma course and there is a complete fee waiver for us, and I want to become a software engineer after completing my engineering degree in the future.
