The Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSSC) will conduct the Laboratory Assistant 2025 Recruitment Exam in two stages – Preliminary and Main Examination. Expectedly, the Prelims exam will be on June 20, 2025.  If more than 40,000 applications are received, a Preliminary Exam will be conducted. If needed, this exam will likely happen in multiple shifts. In such a case, normalization of marks will be happen to ensure fairness.

Nature of the Preliminary Exam

Candidates who qualify the preliminary exam will be 5 times the number of total vacancies, category-wise, and they will be selected to appear for the Main Exam. A separate notification will be available for the Main Exam.

Syllabus for BSSC Laboratory Assistant 2025 Preliminary Exam

Paper: General Knowledge

This paper will include three sections:

Section (A): General Studies – 35 Questions

This section checks the candidate’s awareness of the environment and current affairs. It includes:

  • Current events (national & international)
  • Scientific developments
  • Awards and honors
  • Indian languages, scripts, capitals, and currencies
  • Books and authors
  • Sports and important players
  • Major historical and cultural events
  • Bihar and its contribution to India’s freedom movement

Special focus will be on India and its neighboring countries in areas like:

  • History and Culture
  • Geography and Economy
  • Constitution and Political System
  • Panchayati Raj, Community Development
  • Indian Agriculture and Natural Resources
  • Five-Year Plans

Section (B): Science – 75 Questions

This section will include basic science questions based on the Intermediate (10+2) level syllabus. It may include topics from:

  • Physics
  • Chemistry
  • Biology

Section (C): Quantitative Aptitude / Reasoning – 40 Questions

This part tests numerical and reasoning abilities. Questions may be from:

  • Basic Arithmetic
  • Number series
  • Logical reasoning
  • Puzzles
  • Analytical problems
