The official IIT JAM 2026 starts today 5 September. The notification released by IIT Bombay, which is organising the exam for the 2026 cycle. The notification has been released today for the admission 2026. Every year, one of the IITs organizes this exam for admission to PG Science courses in the IITs. In 2024, IIT Delhi organized this exam for admission to 2025. Below are the main highlights:
Admission shall be as per All India Rank (AIR) in each Test Paper of JAM 2026, reservation policy of Government of India, and the availability of seats
IIT JAM 2026 Notification Released: Schedule
- Notification release: 18 August 2025.
- Application/Registration period: Opens September 5, 2025, and closes October 12, 2025. The application will happen through the online JOAPS portal.
- Admit Card availability: Downloadable from January 5, 2026.
- Exam Date: February 15, 2026 (Computer-Based Test).
- Result declaration: March 20, 2026.

Edit window
The edit window will open on November 10 for the candidates who have entered the CATEGORY or GENDER or EXAMINATION CITY or DoB incorrectily, these candidates will get the opportunity to change with an additional fee of Rs.300. Candidates can add TEST PAPER or can CHANGE THE TEST PAPER(S) in the previously submitted application form available at https://jam2026.iitb.ac.in with an additional fee of | 300 before November 10, 2025.
Number of Seats
The exam provides admission to around 3,000 seats in MSc, Joint MSc-PhD, MSc-PhD Dual Degree, and other postgraduate programs at 22 IITs for the academic year 2026-27. Candidates from India and foreign nationals can apply. The notification, information poster, and all official updates are available on the JAM 2026 official website: jam2026.iitb.ac.in.
