NIRF Ranking-Is the release timing Ok?: the NIRF ranking 2025 has been released today. One new category has been added this year Sustainable Development. Though not much changes are seen. But if we go by the admission process in India, the timing of releasing the Ranking is not right.
The school board result comes in May or June and the period of entrance exams such as pharma,engineering,medical or colleges take place well in advance in the beginning of the years.
How this will help students?
Most of the big exams are completed by now when the NIRF ranking is released. The Pharma,Engineering,Medical and Colleges entrance are over. So how a student is benefitted by this ranking.
The students have already taken the admission in the college or University. If the ranking is done only for Institute then it will help them in getting the students next year.
We have two big exams that are taking place are_ Law which is clat, and for Management, it is CAT and CMAT. The application process for CAT is on, and CMAT 2026 entrance exam will open soon.
Will it suit institute?
Yes the institutes especially private institutes if they have imporoved their ranking will be benefitted by the Ranking, They will be using for Management and Law Admission. It will be used by them to attract students for next year admission.
We would draw attention to the authorities to present the report in December or January so that student who prepares for admission in colleges or subject specific courses can be highly benefitted.
Timing of Other Ranking
Here is a brief overview of the QS ranking release schedule:
- QS World University Rankings: June
- QS Regional Rankings: July to October
- QS Sustainability Rankings: November
- QS World University Rankings by Subject: March/April of the next year
The Times Higher Education Ranking is released in October or November, before the next admission cycle begins.
Other notable Ranking is released in the preceding month of next admission cycle or the earliest month of admission cycle
