IISC Phd 2026 Programme- The application form is closing November 4 for PhD course in IISC Banglore. The aspiring candidate can apply for the same by reading eligibility criteria set by IISC.

The National entrance test is mandatory here. The appearing candidates who are completing  all the requirements for award of the degree (like examinations, project dissertation, viva-voce, etc.) by 31st December 2025, and can furnish the necessary document

Science Faculty Ph.D. in : Inorganic & Physical Chemistry, Developmental Biology and Genetics, Neurosciences, Organic Chemistry, Physics, Solid State & Structural Chemistry, and Instrumentation and Applied Physics.

Engineering Faculty Ph.D. in : Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Earth Sciences, Electrical Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Systems Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Nano Science and Engineering, Design & Manufacturing, Computer Science and Automation, Centre for Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences (AS), Centre for Sustainable Technologies, and Computational & Data Sciences.

Interdisciplinary areas Ph.D. in : Energy (offered by Interdisciplinary Centre for Energy Research), Cyber Physical Systems (offered by Robert Bosch Centre for Cyber Physical Systems), Climate Change (offered by Divecha Centre for Climate Change), and Water Research (offered by Interdisciplinary Centre for Water Research).

If you are a graduate of any course of minimum duration of FOUR years, from any Centrally Funded Technical Institution (including IIITs in PPP mode) with a minimum CGPA of 8 out of 10 or its equivalent.Desirable to have a valid GATE score / NET JRF.
MBBS/MD/MDS/Pharm DDesirable to have a valid GATE score/NET JRF.

1 Year M. Engg from IIScMust have been admitted to the M. Engg. program through GATE.

The GATE/ GPAT/ JEST/ NET JRF/other National entrance test passing certificate/ score card should be valid as on 01st January 2026.

Applicants who have qualified in the Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and
Interdisciplinary Life Sciences-2025 (JGEEBILS) are also eligible to apply

Admission for External Candidates

The External Registration Programme (ERP) is meant for: (1) professionals from R&D Organizations / Industries and (2) Faculty members from Engineering, Agricultural, Pharmaceutical, Veterinary, Medical Colleges/ Universities, recognized by the appropriate government agencies.

There is no change in the qualification it will be same as asked for regular students. The Qualifying in one of the national entrance tests like CSIR-UGC NET for JRF, UGC-NET for JRF, DBT JRF, ICMR JRF, GATE, NBHM is desirable but not mandatory. Further, the candidate should have completed two years of full-time employment as on 1st January of the respective Academic year. The candidates must be officially sponsored by their employing organizations and compulsorily fill in an online application form and submit the printed version, in duplicate, on or before 04.11.2025.
