Indian Railways improved operational efficiency and passenger services, achieving 80% overall train punctuality nationwide from December 8-14.
Division Performance
37 divisions exceeded 80% punctuality, 22 topped 90%, and 10 surpassed 95%. Top performers included Ratlam (Western Railway) at 98.5%, Tiruchchirappalli (Southern Railway) at 97.5%, and Madurai (Southern Railway) at 96.7%.

Indian Railways has extensively upgraded tracks over the last 11 years to boost speed potential, incorporating 60 kg rails, wider concrete sleepers, thick web switches, longer panels, H-beam sleepers, advanced renewal machines, level crossing interlocks, and rigorous track geometry monitoring.

These enhancements have dramatically raised track capabilities, with 79% now supporting 110 kmph or higher speeds as of November 2025—up from just 40% in March 2014.

On the Nagpur–Secunderabad Vande Bharat Express (20101/20102), passengers enjoy Maharashtra’s Kanda Poha, South Indian Dondakaya Karam Podi Fry, and Andhra Kodi Kura.
Gujarati Methi Thepla appears on the MMCT–GNC route (20901), while Masala Lauki features on SBIB–VRL (26902). Odisha’s Aloo Phulkopi delights riders on the Howrah–Puri Express (22895).
Kerala’s traditional spread—white rice, Pachakka Cherupayar Mezhukku Perati, Kadala Curry, Kerala Paratha, plain curd, Palada Payasam, and Appam—graces the Kasargod–Trivandrum (20633/34) and Mangalore–Trivandrum (20631/32) Vande Bharat Expresses.
