BHU IMS MBA 2026 Eligibility

  • The Eligibility for MBA and MBA-IB Program: Admission to the MBA & MBA-IB Programs shall be through CAT.
  • Eligibility criteria defined under CAT shall be as applicable, provided candidates belonging to categories other than SC / ST have secured a minimum of 50% marks at the qualifying examination. For SC/ST candidates, at least 45% marks are required. (a) A graduate degree under 10+2+3 Pattern OR (b) A degree in Engineering Technology, Agriculture, Medicine, Education or Law OR (c) A Post-graduate degree in any discipline.

Eligibility Requirements for Admission

  1. You have obtained graduation degree from a recognized Indian University/Institution approved by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and/or the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), as applicable.
  2. Candidates must have secured a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate (or equivalent) in the qualifying examination [as specified under categories (a), (b), or (c)].
    • A relaxation is provided for SC/ST candidates, who require at least 45% marks in aggregate.
  3. Candidates who are appearing (or will appear) for their qualifying examination in the academic session 2025-26 may apply provisionally. They must submit a certificate from the Head/Principal of their current institution confirming that they have appeared (or will appear) for the examination.
  4. If provisionally admitted, such candidates must submit proof of meeting the minimum eligibility criteria — i.e., the final mark-sheet of the qualifying examination — by October 05 of the admission year. Failure to do so will result in cancellation of provisional admission.

Supernumerary Admissions

Supernumerary seats are additional seats over and above the regular intake capacity.

I. Admission Under Paid Seats Scheme

  • Number of seats: 15% of the regular intake (additional to the sanctioned seats).
  • Admission timing: Admissions under this scheme will be only after the completion of regular merit-based seat admissions.
  • Fee structure:
    • Candidates must pay a Paid Seat fee of Rs. 75,000/- per semester through the online payment link provided at the time of provisional admission.
    • This Paid Seat fee is in addition to the regular program fees (as detailed which must also be paid through the SAMARTH portal.
  • Payment obligation: The Rs. 75,000/- fee is payable every semester. Non-payment will result in the student not being eligibible for the subsequent semester classes.

II. Admission of Foreign Nationals

  • Admissions for Foreign Nationals to the MBA and MBA-IB programs are available under supernumerary quota.
  • Detailed eligibility criteria, application process, and requirements are provided in Point No. 8 on Pages 8 & 9 of the admission brochure.

III. Other Categories

  • Any additional categories eligible for supernumerary admission will be considered as per the prevailing Central Government regulations in force on the last date of application / admission process.

Note: All supernumerary admissions are subject to availability of seats, fulfillment of eligibility criteria, and compliance with applicable Government of India / University rules.

Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI)

Conducted by: Institute of Management Studies, Banaras Hindu University (BHU)

  • Candidates shortlisted based on their CAT 2025 score will get invitation for Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
  • Both GD and PI will be in physical mode only at the Institute, as per the schedule announced by the Institute’s Admission Committee.
  • Weightage:
    • Group Discussion: 15%
    • Personal Interview: 15%
    • Total for GD + PI: 30%

Important Notes:

  • Non-appearance in CAT 2025, Group Discussion, or Personal Interview on the scheduled date and time will result in disqualification from the admission process.
  • Shortlisted candidates must appear in person and bring the required documents (listed below) for verification during the GD/PI process.

Payment of GD-PI Processing Fee

  • Candidates shortlisted for Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) are required to pay a non-refundable processing fee of Rs. 2,000/- (or the exact amount specified in the GD-PI call letter).
  • The fee must be paid online through the SAMARTH portalbefore appearing for the GD-PI process.
  • Payment should be completed as per the instructions and deadline mentioned in the call letter/email.
  • Proof of payment (transaction receipt) may be required during document verification on the day of GD/PI.

Failure to remit the processing fee by the stipulated date will result in cancellation of the GD-PI invitation and disqualification from further consideration in the admission process.
