AIBE 21 facilities for blind candidates 2026
Are you blind or Low Vision candidates with 40% and More Disability, preparing for AIBE XXI 2026? Then this information is more important for you. This opportunity has been started from Year 2025 AIBE Exam.
In this opportunity Supreme Court has given order to started this new rule for exam.

Following the supreme Court’s Yash Dodani Case order (November 13, 2025), the Bar Councilof India (BCI) has announced facilities for candidates with disabilities for the AIBE screen reader software exam.
These facilities are only for those candidates who have opted for screen reader software. The AIBE open book exam (bare acts allowed) is now also available in a computer-based accessible format.
Main objective: To confirm equal opportunity in the AIBE 21/XXI examination 2026.
Lets Understand Below Point Wise:
- JAWS software added (as per SC directive)
- Previously, only NVDA (free screen reader) was available.,
- Now JAWS is also available – this is paid software, which works better.
- Benefit: You can choose your preferred software.
- Computer/Laptop arrangement
- A properly functioning computer/laptop will be provided at the examination center.
- It will have Windows 8.1 or a newer version, which supports accessibility features.
- No problems: Hardware is pre-tested.
- You can bring your own materials (on a Pen Drive)
- NVDA installation file.
- Soft copies of Bare Acts – only from government websites (like indiacode.nic.in).
- Accessible copy of the Question Paper (in English, DOC or non-scanned PDF).
- Note: The Pen Drive will only be used during the exam. No handwritten notes or other materials.
- Checking one day before the exam
- You can inspect the computer one day before the exam.
- Install NVDA yourself – to ensure everything runs smoothly.
- Benefit: No tension on Exam Day.
- Take the exam yourself or use a Scribe – your choice
- Option 1: Take the exam alone using a screen reader.
- Option 2: Take the help of a Scribe (writer).
- Both are OK – consent has already been obtained.
- Scribe Rules (From MoSJE Guidelines 10.08.2022)
- Candidates must arrange for their own scribe (and pay for them).
- Who can be a scribe? A Class 10th/12th student – NON-HUMANITIES (i.e., someone who has not studied Civics/Political Science/Modern Government).
Why? To ensure the scribe does not have too much knowledge and cannot gain an unfair advantage.
- Extra Time
- Standard exam duration: 3 hours.
- You will receive 20 minutes extra per hour = a total of 1 hour extra (4 hours total).
- Benefit: This is helpful because screen readers read slowly.
AIBE 2026 Qualifying Marks Explained
To pass AIBE 2026, score minimum qualifying marks: 45 marks (General/OBC/EWS), 40 marks (SC/ST/PwD). No sectional cut-offs; aggregate only. Results: Pass Certificate valid lifelong for court practice.
- General Category: 45/100 – e.g., 50 correct MCQs suffice.
- Reserved: 40/100 – inclusive policy aids access.
Retest allowed unlimited post-failure; no merit list, just qualify.
