The application form open on 25 October for recruitment of Faculty post in AIIMS Madurai in various department. The notification came out today. The candidates will have to appear in the interview. It is important for the candidates to carry all the relevant documents when they come for interview. The probation period is two years

Professor

A medical Qualification included in the I or II schedule or part II of the third schedule to the Indian Medical Council Act of 1956 (Persons possessing qualifications included in part II of third schedule should also fulfil the conditions specified in section 13(3) of the Act.)

Qualifying degree:

A PG Degree, MD or MS (recognised under the IMC Act, #1956 or by the NMC) in concerned department or qualifications recognised by the NMC as being equivalent thereto for employment as a Teacher in a Medical Institution. The qualifying degree must be in the subject of the post.

Experience:  At least14 years teaching experience, obtained after obtaining the qualifying degree. The experience must be in a department recognisedthe by the NMC for award of the qualifying degree or an experience recognized by the NMC as being equivalent thereto

Essential for Super-Speciality disciplines:

It would be the same as the essential criteria

Same as Professor Qualification

 Qualifying Degree: –

D.M. or M.Ch (recognised under the IMC Act, #1956 or by the NMC) in the concerned department OR qualifications recognised by the NMC as being equivalent thereto for employment as a Teacher in a Medical Institution.

The qualifying degree must be in the subject of the post.

 For Pulmonary medicine Candidates with two or three-year DM degree, they must have obtained the MD degree in the relevant department OR qualifications recognised by the NMC as being equivalent thereto for employment as a teacher in a Medicine Institution, in Medicine. (As per the NMC Gazette, special training in the Super speciality of Pulmonary Medicine in a teaching Institution/Centre of Excellence will be considerable as equivalent to DM.)

Medical Oncology

Candidates with two or three Year DM degree must have obtained the MD degree (recognised under the IMC Act, #1956 or by the NMC) in the concerned department OR qualifications recognised by the NMC as being equivalent thereto for employment as a teacher in a Medicine Institution, in Medicine or Pediatrics.

Super Speciality

For candidates with two to 5 years course for the qualifying degree, Twelve years teaching experience, after obtaining the qualifying degree is essential

The experience must be of in a department recognised by the NMC for award of the qualifying degree or an experience recognisedof by the NMC as being equivalent thereto. Eleven years experience is necessary for those with a three or six Years Course for the qualifying degree.

Essential for Non-Medical Candidates*:

1. Postgraduate qualification i.e. Master degree in the discipline/allied subject.

2. A Doctorate degree of a recognized University. Experience: Fourteen years teaching and/or research experience in the discipline/subject concerned after obtaining the Doctorate degree.

Additional Professor

Essential for Medical Candidates (for General Discipline): Same as essential criteria 1 & 2 for Professor stated above. Experience: Ten years teaching experience, obtained after obtaining the qualifying degree.

The experience must be in a department recognized by the NMC for the award of the qualifying degree or an experience recognized by the NMC as being equivalent thereto.

Essential for Super Speciality disciplines:

Qualification is same as essential criteria 1 for Professor stated above.

 Qualifying Degree:-

D.M. or M.Ch (recognized under the IMC Act, #1956 or by the NMC) in concerned department OR qualifications recognized by the NMC as being equivalent thereto for employment as a Teacher in a Medical Institution. The qualifying degree must be in the subject of the post. Experience for Super-Speciality disciplines:

For candidates with 02 or 05 years course for the qualifying degree,

Experience 8  teaching experience, after obtaining the qualifying degree is necssary. The experience must be a department recognized by the NMC for award of the qualifying degree or an experience recognized by the NMC as being equivalent thereto.

Seven years experience is necessary for those with a three or six years course for the qualifying degree. C. Essential for Non-Medical Candidates*: 1 & 2 are same as for Professor (Non – Medical) Experience: Ten years teaching and/or research experience in the discipline/subject concerned after obtaining the Doctorate degree.

Associate Professor

Experience-Six years teaching experience obtained after obtaining the qualifying degree. The experience must be in a department recognized by the NMC for award of the qualifying degree or an experience recognized by the NMC as being equivalent thereto.

Qualifying Degree:-

D.M. or M.Ch (recognized under the IMC Act, #1956 or by the NMC) in concerned department OR qualifications recognized by the NMC as being equivalent thereto for employment as a Teacher in a Medical Institution.

The qualifying degree must be in the subject of the post.

Assistant Professor

Experience: Three  teaching experience, obtained after obtaining the qualifying degree. The experience must ab in a department recognized by the NMC for award of the qualifying degree or an experience recognized by the NMC as being equivalent thereto.

Superspeciality

D.M. or M.Ch (recognized under the IMC Act, #1956 or by the NMC) in concerned department OR qualifications recognized by the NMC as being equivalent thereto for employment as a Teacher in a Medical Institution. The qualifying degree must be in the subject of the post.

 Pulmonary medicine Candidates with two or three Year DM degree must have obtained the MD degree (recognised under the IMC Act, #1956 or by the NMC) in ,concerned department

OR qualifications recognised by the NMC as being equivalent thereto for employment as a teacher in a Medicine Institution, in Medicine.

The experience must be in a department recognized by the NMC for award of the qualifying degree or an experience recognized by the NMC as being equivalent thereto. No additional experience is necessary for those with a three or six Years Course for the qualifying degree

DNB

Such candidates with DNB in broad specialties or Dr NB in super specialties as their essential qualifying education must provide documentary evidence of its equivalence with MD/MS/DM/M.Ch issued by Competent / Appropriate authority as per NMC New Delhi notification dated 30.06.2025. This evidence must meet the following criteria:

➢ DNB/Dr NB training should had been in a medical institution with an attached hospital or in a hospital with 500 or more beds recognised by the National Board of Examinations.

OR’

➢ Candidate has done one year of senior residency in a medical college or institution recognized by NMC as teaching institution for that speciality/super specialty after passing DNB/Dr NB in the concerned specialty / super-specialty (In all cases where DNB/Dr NB training done in a hospital with less than 500 beds)

Education Qualification for Non Medical  Candidates

Biochemistry: – Master of Science in Medical Biochemistry with Doctor of Philosophy in Medical Biochemistry.

Microbiology: – Master of Science in Medical Microbiology with Doctor of Philosophy in Medical Microbiology.

Pharmacology: – Master of Science in Medical Pharmacology with Doctor of Philosophy in Medical Pharmacology

Teaching/Research Experience: – Only experience is necessary after obtaining the essential qualifications for the applied post will be considered as eligible as per the Recruitment Rules.

Experience Certificate Requirements: – Candidates must note your experience certificate must meet the following criteria.

1. It has been Issued by: Head(s) of the Organization where the experience acquired.
2. The certificate should have following details: –
3. Duration of experience: Indicate the exact “from” and “to” dates of your employment. Nature of experience: Whether your experience involved teaching, research, or both.

In case of Research Experience, the document proofs clearly specify the role (PI/Co PI/Etc), approval of the Institutional Research Committee and the Institutional Ethics Committee, Funding Agency, Fund sanction orders, the Name, Type & outcome of Research, Patent / Copyrights obtained, Licence fee / Royalty earned, etc. should enclose from Recognised organisation:
5. The organization should be recognised by the relevant authority i.e. Medical: MCI/NMC Dental: DCI Non-medical: UGC Experience Requirement Relaxation for SC/ST Candidates:
6. Relaxation of one-year Teaching/Research experience for SC/ST candidates will be given as per rules/guidelines issued by DoPT and Central Institute Body of AIIMS.
