CEED Part A qualifying cut-off
What is Part A
- The Part A qualifying cut-off is the minimum score required to have your Part B evaluated for shortlisting.
- The specific cut-off marks change each year based on factors like the exam’s difficulty, the number of applicants, and the standard deviation of scores.
- For example, the CEED 2024 Part A cut-offs were:
- General: 27.30 marks
- OBC-NCL/EWS: 24.57 marks
- SC/ST/PwD: 13.65 marks
CEED rank for IIT admission
- When a candidate clears the Part A cut-off, a CEED merit rank is assigned, which is used for admission to IITs.
- The top IITs such as IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, and IIT Hyderabad, a very high rank is needed, typically within the top 100-150 overall.
- Though one can conclude that a “good” score for admission to top programs is often cited as being around 60-70 marks or higher out of 100, though this can vary by program and competition.
Final selection process
- Clearing the CEED cut-off is only the first step.
- The final admission decision is based on the overall CEED score (a weighted combination of Part A and Part B) and is followed by a portfolio review and interview.
