Age Limit
21 to 27 years as on 01 Jul 2025 (born not earlier than 02 Jul 1998 and not later than 01 Jul 2004, both dates inclusive).
Note: Only the date of birth recorded in the Matriculation/Secondary School Examination Certificate (or equivalent) at the time of application submission will be accepted. No subsequent changes will be considered or granted.
Educational Qualifications
- Minimum 55% aggregate marks in LLB Degree (3-year professional course after graduation or 5-year course after 10+2).
- CLAT PG 2024 score is mandatory for all candidates (including those qualified or appearing in LLM) applying for courses starting in that year.
- Candidates must be eligible for registration as an advocate with the Bar Council of India/State.
- Must hold an LLB from a college/university recognized by the Bar Council of India.
Note 1: Only candidates holding an LLB degree and marksheet are eligible, provided they meet all other qualifications above.
Note 2: All JAG Entry applicants must get their CLAT PG 2024 results verified at the Selection Centre before SSB. Refusal or inability to verify will cancel candidature—no representations accepted. Offline applications are not permitted by the Directorate General of Recruiting.

JAG 2026 Tenure of Engagement
Short Service Commission (SSC) is granted to both men and women in the regular Army for 14 years: an initial 10-year period, extendable by 4 years.
- Permanent Commission (PC) Option: Male and female officers eligible and suitable after 10 years may be considerable for PC in the 10th year, per prevailing policies.
- Extension for Non-Selected Officers: Those not selected for PC but deemed fit may opt to continue as SSCOs for a total of 14 years (including the initial 10), after which they will be released.
Special Provisions for Release
(i) Release After 5th Year
SSCOs (male and female), excluding those undergoing specialized courses, may apply to Army HQ during their 5th year for release on completion of 5 years. Applications are considered on merits; Army HQ’s decision is final and irrevocable.
- Officers undergoing specialized courses cannot be released before 14 years unless training costs are recovered. They must sign a bond upon nomination for such courses.
(ii) Release During Extended Tenure (Years 11-14)
Officers may seek release on these grounds:
- (aa) Taking up a civil job.
- (ab) Pursuing higher education.
- (ac) Starting own business/joining family business.
Period of Probation
Officers undergo a 6-month probation starting from the date they receive their commission. If deemed unsuitable during this period, Indian army can terminate at any time—before or after probation ends.

Application Process
Applications is available only online via www.joinindianarmy.nic.in.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Click ‘Officer Entry Appln/Login’, then ‘Registration’ (skip if already registered).
- Read instructions carefully and complete the online registration form.
- After registration, go to Dashboard and click ‘Apply Online’.
- Select ‘Officers Selection – Eligibility’, then ‘Apply’ next to Short Service Commission JAG Entry Course.
- On the ‘Application Form’ page, read instructions and click ‘Continue’ to fill details in segments:
- Personal information
- Communication details
- Education details
- Previous SSB details
- Click ‘Save & Continue’ before moving to each next segment.
- After the final segment, review ‘Summary of your information’ and edit as needed.
- Once correct, click ‘Submit’.
Key Notes
- Click ‘Submit’ every time you edit and reopen the application.
- Print two copies with Roll Number, available 30 minutes after final closure on the last day.
Documents Required at Selection Centre
Candidates must bring self-attested photocopies of the following documents along with originals to the Selection Centre:
- Application Printout: One signed copy with self-attested photograph affixed.
- Matriculation/10th Certificate & Mark Sheet (for date of birth, candidate’s name, and parents’ names).
Note 1: Only this certificate treated as proof—no admit cards, marksheets, or transfer certificates.
Note 2: If parents’ names are missing, provide Govt of India/State Govt document (PAN, Aadhaar, Passport, Driving License). Names in application must match exactly. - 12th Class Certificate & Mark Sheet.
- Graduation Degree/Provisional Degree (for 3-year LLB after graduation; provisional not older than 6 months at joining).
- LLB Degree/Provisional Degree (provisional not older than 6 months at joining).
- LLB Marks Sheets (all years/semesters).
- Bar Council Registration OR BCI Recognition Certificate from college/university.
- CGPA-to-Percentage Conversion Formula certificate from university.
- CLAT PG 2024 Score Card.
Important Warning
- Read notification carefully before filling online form to avoid rejection.
- Failure to carry any document cancels candidature—candidates will be returned without SSB interview.
Shortlisting Process
Integrated HQ of MoD (Army) reserves the right to shortlist applications without reason. Shortlisted candidates receive Selection Centre allotment via email, then log in to select SSB dates on a first-come, first-served basis (later allotted by centres if needed). Date selection may be forfeited due to exceptional circumstances.

Only shortlisted candidates attend SSB at:
- Prayagraj (UP)
- Bhopal (MP)
- Bangalore (Karnataka)
- Jalandhar (PB)
Call-up letters issued via registered email/SMS only. Centre allotment is final—no change requests accepted.
SSB Procedure
Two-stage process:
- Stage I qualifiers proceed to Stage II; Stage I failures return same day.
- SSB lasts 5 days (details on www.joinindianarmy.nic.in).
- Recommended candidates undergo medical exam.
Final Selection
SSB-recommended and medically fit candidates receive joining letters by merit order, based on vacancies and eligibility.
