Indian Olympiad Qualifier Exam (IOQM) 2026

The Indian Olympiad Qualifier in Mathematics (IOQM) is the national-level entrance exam for India’s Mathematical Olympiad program, serving as the first step for selection to the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO).It is a three stage test which is given below

First Stage Exam

Selection Criteria

The student will be divided into the following category

A student has to score at least 10% of the total marks of the IOQM 2025 paper in order to be eligible to appear for RMO 2025 but this is NOT the sole qualifying criterion.

 Any student who has scored at least 10% of the total marks of the IOQM 2025 paper and enrolled for IOQM 2025 as a student of one of the classes 8,9,10,11 will be classified as a Category A student.

3. Any student who has scored at least 10% of the total marks of the IOQM 2025 paper and enrolled for IOQM 2025 as a student of class 12 will be classified as a Category B student

Exam Structure & Pattern

  • Mode: Offline (pen-and-paper), OMR-based.
  • Duration: 3 hours (180 minutes)
  • Total Marks: 100.
  • Number of Questions: 30, divided into three sections:
    • Section A: 10 questions × 2 marks each
    • Section B: 10 questions × 3 marks each
    • Section C: 10 questions × 5 marks each
  • Question Type: Objective; answers are integers between 00 and 99, to be filled on an OMR sheet.
  • Languages: English and Hindi
  • Marking Scheme: No negative marking; full marks for correct integer answers only.
  • Exam Date (2025): 7th September 2025

Eligibility Criteria

  • Who Can Apply: Students in Classes 8 to 12
  • Age Limit: Students born between August 1, 2006 and July 31, 2013
  • Students Born After 2013 are not allowed
  • You should have Indian Passport
  • The student must be residing and studying in India since 30 October 2023 or earlier
  • The student must NOT have qualified (or scheduled to appear) class 12 board examination earlier than 30 October, 2025.
  • The student must NOT have commenced (or planning to commence) studies in a university or equivalent institution by 1 June, 202
  • Nationality: Indian students studying in India.

Syllabus

  • Based on mathematics syllabi of Classes 8–12 (CBSE/ICSE and equivalent boards)
  • Major topics: Algebra, Number Theory, Geometry, Combinatorics, and basic concepts from higher classes
  • Emphasis is on conceptual understanding, problem-solving, and creative application, not rote learning

Registration & Fees

  • Registration Portal: ioqm.manageexam.com234.
  • Registration Dates: 1 July 26 th July 2025 (individual); 9th June to 25th July 2025 (through schools/centres)
  • Application Fee: â‚¹300 (₹180 for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya and Kendriya Vidyalaya students)

  • Check eligibility.
  • Fill out the online application form at the official portal.
  • Upload required documents (age proof, school ID, etc.).
  • Select exam centre.
  • Pay the application fee online.
  • Print the confirmation page for future reference

Selection Process: Stages of the Mathematical Olympiad

  1. IOQM: National-level qualifier (September 2025)
  2. RMO: Regional Mathematical Olympiad (November 2025; for IOQM qualifiers
  3. INMO: Indian National Mathematical Olympiad (early 2026)
  4. IMOTC: International Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp (for top INMO performers)
  5. IMO: International Mathematical Olympiad (final team selected from IMOTC)
