JEE Advanced 2025 cut-off for IIT admission is very low in 2025

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has declared the category-wise cut-off list and result of JEE Advanced 2025. This year, the cut-off list and qualifying percentage have been reduced for all categories such as, General, OBC-NCL, EWS, SC and ST. This is very good chance for the students to get an admission in IITs. If you compare to the last years, it was 109 for general category in 2024, but this year, the minimum cut-off marks for the general category have been set at just 76 marks, while for EWS and OBC categories it is just 66 marks and for the SC and ST it is just 37. Jee advanced 2024, the cut-off has decreased by about 30%, as the cut-off for the general category was 109 marks last year, which has come down to 76 marks this year so it’s a great opportunity for the Jee advanced aspirants.

To qualify for the JEE Advanced 2025, it is compulsory to score at least 5.83% marks in the each subject and 20.56% marks in aggregate. Acandidates who fulfil this criterion will be ranked in the JEE Advanced Common Rank List (CRL) 2025.

In the years of 2025, 17,695 BTech seats are available in IIT institutes through JoSAA counselling 2025. However, the competition has been much higher as compared to last year. In 2024, only 9.83% of students were able to get admission in IITs, that is, only about 1 in 10 students got a seat.

Candidates can download their mark sheet and final answer key from the official website of Jee advanced jeeadv.ac.in. The JoSAA counselling process will begin soon, allowing eligible candidates to apply for admission to their desire IITs.

What was the seats status in IITs and NITs in 2024

For the 2024-25 academic year, a significant number of BTech seats remained vacant in both IITs and NITs:

  • IITs: 276 BTech seats were left unfilled across 13 IITs
    • For example, IIT Dhanbad had 72 vacant BTech seats out of 1,125 total, and IIT Guwahati reported 37 vacant BTech seats13.
  • NITs: 401 BTech seats remained vacant across 19 NITs

These vacancies are attributed mainly to less popular courses and varying demand across branches and institutes
