What is DHR BRET exam 2025?
The DHR-BRET determines eligibility for Indian nationals to receive Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) from the Department of Health Research (DHR). Fellowship awards depend on placement in recognized institutions like medical colleges/hospitals, universities, national labs, Institutes of National Importance, or ICMR centres under these categories:
- UGC/INI: PhD pursuit at UGC-recognized universities/research institutions or Institutes of National Importance.
- ICMR–AcSIR: PhD at 27 ICMR Institutes/Centres with registration under AcSIR-ICMR Faculty of Medical Research.
Fellowships: Up to 250 candidates selected (subject to budget and DHR guidelines).
Merit List: Based solely on DHR-BRET performance per notified criteria.
Discipline: PhD enrolment limited to biomedical/health research subjects.
Reservation: As per the Government of India policy for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/EWS candidates.
The AIIMS New Delhi conducts the DHR-BRET 2025 (Biomedical Research Eligibility Test) for Junior Research Fellowships in biomedical and health sciences under the Department of Health Research.​

AIIMS DHR Biomedical Research Eligibility Test application
Candidates must hold an M.Sc. or equivalent PG degree (M.Tech/M.Pharma) in any of these fields:
- Life sciences, zoology, botany
- Biomedical sciences, microbiology, biochemistry
- Genetics, biotechnology, biophysics, bioinformatics
- Forensic sciences, environmental sciences, food & nutrition
- Molecular biology, biological sciences, ecology
- Immunology, neurosciences, veterinary sciences
- Nursing, biostatistics, pharmacology, pharmaceutical sciences
- Public health, social work
Minimum Marks:
- 55%Â for General/EWS/OBC candidates
- 50%Â for SC/ST/PwBD candidates
Appearing candidates in their final year of education can also apply
Age limit 35 years
Relaxable for Reserved category Candidates
