NIRF Ranking 2025 on 4 September 2025: Institute report card releases tomorrow
Yes NIRF Ranking 2025 will be released tomorrow on September 4 , 2025 by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The rankings will be published on the official NIRF website at nirfindia.org.
Though not much changes in the top category where government institutions such as AIIMS for medical ranking,IIM for Management ranking, For engineering it is IIT who takes the top spot, for distance learning it is the IGNOU that stands at the top.

The new category is sustainable development The SDG-focused category, begins this year it in 2025, will highlight the institute’s efforts in research,outreach and innovative education practice ..
What is new this year ranking?
Only Sustainable development category is expected to be included this year, apprehensions are strong that the Medical ranking will not be included this year because of Data concern.
How this will benefit students?
There are end number of institutions and colleges in India. But it will be interesting to see the other less popular institutes change their position. Students who are trying for the top colleges and are not able to make it to them what option available for them. This NIRF ranking will help students.

NIRF 2025 Overview
- The 2025 edition marks the 10th year of NIRF rankings.
- Rankings will cover 16 categories, including universities, colleges, engineering, management, medical, agriculture, law, pharmacy, dental, architecture, innovation, research institutions, and new categories like open universities, skill universities, and state public universities.
- A new sustainability category (SDG-aligned) has been introduced.
- For the first time, negative marking will be applied for retracted research papers under the research parameter.
- The medical colleges category may be excluded this year due to data concerns.
- Live updates will be available on the NIRF website during the release.
Parameter
Institutions will be ranked based on parameters like teaching, learning, research, graduation outcomes, outreach, inclusivity, and perception.

Reason for Delay?
The release was delayed due to a Madras High Court stay, but is now scheduled for this date, and will include updates like negative marking for retracted research papers and a new sustainability category.
