Rank

Students must check what rank is good for you to get a good college in Telangana

  • Top colleges/branches (JNTUH, OU, CBIT, Vasavi, VNR VJIET): Rank below 3,000 is considered excellent, and for CSE/IT it typically closes under 2,500.
  • Other top branches (ECE, EEE) in leading colleges: Up to 6,000–8,000 is competitive.
  • Good  private colleges: 5,000–12,000 is taken as a safe range for mainstream CSE, ECE, IT branches.

Category & Branch-Wise Cutoffs (Expected OC)

BranchExcellent (Top 5)Good/Safe (Main colleges)Still Decent (Decent/Local colleges)
CSE1–2,5002,500–5,0005,000–12,000
ECE2,000–4,5004,500–8,000up to 15,000
IT2,500–5,5005,500–10,000up to 20,000
ME/CE/EEE5,000–10,00010,000–20,000up to 25,000

Sample Expected Closing Ranks (OC)

  • JNTU Hyderabad (CSE): ~8,500
  • CBIT (CSE): ~14,79 (1,500)
  • Vasavi (CSE): ~2,200
  • VNR VJIET (CSE): ~1,735
  • University College of Engg OU (CSE): ~1,391.

For reserved categories (BC, SC, ST), the same colleges/branches are accessible up to higher ranks—BC typically up to 6,000 for CSE, SC/ST up to 15,000–20,000 for major branches.

So we can say that under  3,000: Excellent, guarantees top colleges/branches (for OC).

The rank in 3,000–10,000: Very good, gives options in good private/government colleges for top and allied branches.

10,000–25,000: Decent, may get core branches in local/regional colleges or less-competitive disciplines.

Agriculture (BSc Agriculture, Horticulture

  • Top government colleges (OC category): Rank under 1,000–2,000 is excellent for flagship BSc Agriculture seats (e.g., PJTSAU, Rajendranagar).
  • Secure admission (most government seats): Up to 4,000–5,000 is considered good, but popular urban colleges may close much earlier.
  • Decent self-financed/private/agricultural seats: Up to 10,000–12,000 is possible, with more flexibility for reserved categories (BC, SC, ST).

Veterinary (BVSc & AH)

  • Government veterinary colleges (OC): Ranks up to 2,000–2,500 are considered competitive; reserved categories may get seats till 7,000–9,000.
  • Sample veterinary 2025 cutoffs (OC):
    • Non-local UR: 770–2,140
    • Local UR: 1,450–3,850
    • Farmer/rural: up to 4,570.

B.Pharmacy/Pharm D

  • Top government pharmacy colleges: Ranks up to 10,000 are good, but in practice, closing ranks often go up to 40,000–50,000 or higher for self-financed/private colleges.
  • Pharmacy self-financed private: Sometimes up to 120,000–150,000, but higher tuition is typical.

Category Impact

  • BC/SC/ST/EWS: Relaxed cutoffs; for government agriculture and veterinary, BC up to 6,000, SC/ST up to 15,000–20,000 may get seats.
  • Farmer and rural quota: Also get more relaxed cutoffs for core programs.
