The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has initiated the recruitment process for Assistant Engineer (AE) positions under the Combined State Engineering Services Examination 2024. This examination aims to fill 604 vacancies across various engineering disciplines, including Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Agricultural Engineering
In the preliminary exam only 31,639 candidates appeared for the preliminary exam. Only 7358 candidates qualified for the Mains exam. The date for the mains exam will be intimated soon.

- Last Date for Fee Payment & Application Correction: January 24, 2025
- Preliminary Exam Date: April 20, 2025

Preliminary Examination
- Subjects:
- General Knowledge: 25 questions (50 marks)
- General Hindi: 25 questions (50 marks)
- Engineering Aptitude: 100 questions (200 marks)
- Total Questions: 150
- Total Marks: 300
- Duration: 2 hours
- Marking Scheme: +2 for correct answers, -0.33 for incorrect answers Mains Examination
- Paper I:
- General Hindi: 25 questions (75 marks)
- Engineering Subject I: 100 questions (300 marks)
- Paper II:
- General Studies: 25 questions (75 marks)
- Engineering Subject II: 100 questions (300 marks)
- Total Questions per Paper: 125
- Total Marks per Paper: 375
- Duration per Paper: 2.5 hours
- Marking Scheme: +3 for correct answers, -1 for incorrect answers

Interview
- Total Marks: 100
- Purpose: Assessment of technical knowledge, personality, and suitability for the role
Syllabus Overview
- General Hindi: Grammar, sentence formation, reading comprehension, synonyms, antonyms, error detection, etc.
- General Knowledge: Current affairs, history, geography, Indian polity, economy, and general science.
- Engineering Aptitude: Basic principles of engineering, design and drawing, thermodynamics, water resources, etc.
- Engineering Subjects: Discipline-specific topics in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Agricultural Engineering.
Eligibility Criteria
- Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in the relevant engineering discipline (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Agricultural).
- Age Limit: 21 to 40 years as of July 1, 2024. Age relaxation applicable for reserved categories as per UPPSC norms.
