WBJEE 2026 Eligibility Criteria

WBJEE 2026 application form is still awaited, generally it releases the application form in January 2026 but still students are waiting for the application form. Before jumping on to the application form students must check the eligibility criteria which we have in detail here in this article

The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) will release the official WBJEE 2026 eligibility criteria along with the information bulletin on the official website wbjeeb.nic.in (expected in February–March 2026).

 The criteria below are based on WBJEE 2025 rules (which are expected to remain almost identical for 2026 unless major changes are announced). Always verify the latest Information Bulletin 2026 once released.

WBJEE 2026 Eligibility Criteria

1. Nationality

  • Candidate must be a citizen of India.
  • OCI (Overseas Citizens of India) candidates are also eligible.
  • OCI candidates are usually considered under All India quota / unreserved seats only.

2. Age Limit (as on 31 December 2026)

  • No relaxation in minimum age.
  • Age is calculated as on 31 December 2026.

3. Educational Qualification (Class 12 / Equivalent)

Candidates must have passed or be appearing in 10+2 (or equivalent) examination from a recognized board (CBSE, ISC, WBCHSE, or any state board).

For B.Tech / B.E. (Engineering & Technology)

  • Compulsory subjects: Physics and Mathematics.
  • Any one of the following as third subject: Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biology / Computer Science / Computer Application.
  • Minimum aggregate marks in Physics + Mathematics + third subject (taken together):

  • Must have passed English in 10+2 with at least 30% marks (some sources mention minimum passing marks in English).
  • Candidates appearing in 2026 board exams are eligible (provisional admission subject to passing).

For B.Pharm

  • Compulsory subjects: Physics and Chemistry.
  • Any one of the following: Mathematics / Biology / Biotechnology / Computer Science.
  • Minimum aggregate marks in Physics + Chemistry + third subject:

  • English must be passed in 10+2.

For Architecture (B.Arch) – if through WBJEE

  • Passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics.
  • Minimum 50% aggregate marks in PCM (45% for reserved categories).
  • Must qualify NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) – separate requirement.

4. Domicile Requirement (Very Important for Seats)

  • West Bengal domicile is mandatory for:
    • Government engineering/pharmacy colleges
    • University departments
    • 50% seats in self-financed/private colleges
  • Domicile certificate required (issued by competent authority – usually valid if candidate or parent has resided in West Bengal for 10 continuous years as on 31 December 2026).
  • Non-domicile candidates can apply and compete for All India quota seats only (limited in private colleges).

5. Other Important Points

  • Appearing candidates in 2026 board exams are eligible to apply.
  • Number of attempts: No restriction on attempts.
  • Reservation: Follows West Bengal government norms – SC 22%, ST 6%, OBC-A 10%, OBC-B 7%, EWS 10%, PwD 5%, etc. (subject to change).
  • Medical Fitness: Required at the time of admission (especially for Marine Engineering).
  • Special cases (PwD, defence quota, TFW): Separate provisions exist – check official bulletin.
