What is UGC NET JRF?

Before jumping into the syllabus, here’s a quick recap.
UGC NET (National Eligibility Test), conducted by NTA, is a national-level exam to determine the eligibility for Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Indian universities and colleges.

The exam has two papers – both are conducted on the same day and are compulsory.

Paper 1 Syllabus – General Paper on Teaching and Research Aptitude

• This paper is common for all subjects and tests your general teaching and research skills.
  Total Questions: 50
• Total Marks: 100

1. Teaching Aptitude – Nature, objectives, learner characteristics, methods of teaching.
2. Research Aptitude – Meaning, types, characteristics, steps of research, thesis writing.
3. Comprehension – A passage will be given, followed by questions.
4. Communication – Types, characteristics, barriers, and classroom communication.
5. Mathematical Reasoning and Aptitude – Number series, code decoding, percentages, ratios.
6. Logical Reasoning – Syllogism, analogies, Venn diagrams.
7. Data Interpretation – Tables, graphs, charts with numerical analysis.
8. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) – Basics of computers, Internet, MS Office, digital initiatives.
9. People, Development and Environment – Sustainable development, natural resources, pollution, and environmental issues.
10. Higher Education System – Governance, structure of universities, education policies in India.

Paper 2: UGC NET June 2025 Subject-Wise Syllabus

Now comes the most important part – Paper 2.
This paper is based on the subject selected by the candidate out of 82 subjects like English, Commerce, Management, History, Education, Political Science, Computer Science, etc.

Each Subject’s Syllabus Is Divided Into 10 Units

•  For Commerce – Business environment, Financial management, Marketing, HRM, Accounting, etc.
• For Political Science – Indian government and politics, comparative politics, international relations, etc.
• For Computer Science – Programming, DBMS, Operating Systems, Data Structures, Networking, AI, etc.

UGC NET June 2025 Subject-Wise Syllabus: Exam Pattern Overview

• There shall be 2 marks for each correct answer.
• No Negative Marking for Wrong Answer.
• No Any Marks for Unanswered / un-attempted/ marked for review.
• If the question is found to be incorrect and the Question is dropped, then two marks (+2) will be awarded to only those candidates who have attempted the question.
