CLAT 2026 Not Accepted by Other Premier Institutes
Not all law institutes in India accept the CLAT (Common Law Admission Test) score. While CLAT is the primary entrance exam for most of the National Law Universities (NLUs), there are significant exceptions:
- NLU Delhi does not accept CLAT scores; it conducts its own entrance exam, the AILET (All India Law Entrance Test).
- NLU Meghalaya also does not use CLAT but conducts its own exam called MEG UAT.
- Prominent private institutions such as Symbiosis Law School (SLAT), Jindal Global Law School (LSAT-India), and Christ University (Christ Law Entrance Test) have their own separate entrance tests and do not use CLAT scores for admissions.
Apart from these, the majority of NLUs (22 out of 24) and around 60 other public and private law colleges do accept CLAT scores for undergraduate and postgraduate law admissions. Some notable private universities that accept CLAT include UPES Dehradun, Manipal University Jaipur, and Shiv Nadar University.
For certain universities, like Delhi University, CLAT scores are only considered for the five-year integrated law programs (BA LL.B., BBA LL.B.). However, not for three-year LL.B. or postgraduate LL.M. programs, which require a different entrance test (CUET-PG).
In summary, not all law institutes accept CLAT scores, especially some top colleges that have their own entrance processes. S,o it’s essential to check individual university admission guidelines before applying.
