CSIR UGC NET December 2025: The application form is open for the CSIR UGC NET December 2025. The NTA has released the notification and detailed brochure for the candidates who want to apply for CSIR UGC NET.

What is CSIR UGC NET 2025?
NTA conducts the CSIR UGC NET December 2025, is a national-level qualifying exam for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), Assistant Professor eligibility, and Ph.D. admissions in science and technology fields. The exam is a computer-based mode with objective (MCQ) questions from five major subjects: Chemical Sciences, Life Sciences, Earth Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, and Physical Sciences.

Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates must have a Master’s degree in the relevant science discipline with at least 55% marks (for General/OBC) and 50% for SC/ST/PwD.
- Those appearing in the final year of their qualifying exam can also apply.
- Maximum age for JRF is 30 years as of December 2025; there is no upper age limit for Lectureship/NET.
- 55 percent marks and for Reserved cateogry it is 50 % in PG Degree
- For UG four-year degree, the percentage is 75% and 5 percent relaxation to reserved category candidates

CSIR NET JRF Eligibility
- Candidates must have a master’s degree (M.Sc.) or equivalent in a relevant science subject (Life Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Earth Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Physical Sciences) with at least 55% marks for General/EWS/OBC and 50% marks for SC/ST/Third gender/PwD candidates.
- BE/B.Tech/B.Pharma/MBBS/Five year BS-MS/BS (four-year degree) can also apply.
- Final year students of eligible degrees can also apply under the Result Awaited (RA) category.
- The upper age limit for JRF is 30 years as of December 2025, with relaxation up to 5 years for SC/ST/OBC/PwD/Female/Third gender candidates.
Lectureship/Assistant Professor Eligibility
- The academic qualification requirement is identical: a master’s degree with at least 55% marks for General/EWS/OBC, and 50% for SC/ST/PwD/Third gender.
- There is no upper age limit for Lectureship/Assistant Professor.
- Candidates with only a bachelor’s degree are not eligible for Lectureship/Assistant Professor, even if they are final-year students.
- PhD holders who completed their master’s before 19 September 1991 are eligible if they have at least 50% marks.

- The Lectureship/Assistant Professor certificate is valid for a lifetime.The eligibility for CSIR NET JRF requires a master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant science subject with at least 55% marks for General/EWS/OBC and 50% for SC/ST/PwD/Third gender, along with an upper age limit of 30 years (5-year relaxation for reserved categories). Stipend for JRF
Junior Research Fellowship Stipend The stipend of a JRF is through CSIR- National Eligibility Test (NET) will be Rs. 37,000/- per month for the first two years. In addition, annual contingent grant of Rs. 20,000/- is directly to the fellow. The Fellowship will be by terms and conditions of CSIR, UGC or Research Scheme, as applicable.
