CLAT 2026 Registration Closing on October 31

CLAT 2026: If you have not applied for CLAT 2026 exam, you must apply early to avoid from last-minute rush. The registration is currently open from 1st August 2025 to 31st October 2025. Interested candidates can apply online through the official website of the Consortium of National Law Universities (consortiumofnlus.ac.in). The CLAT 2026 entrance exam is on  7th December 2025.

CLAT 2026 Registration Closing on October 31

Create a new user account with a valid email and mobile number.

Fill in personal, academic, and communication details in the online application form.

Upload scanned copies of the required documents, including a photo and signature.

Select the desired program (UG or PG) and preferred test centers.

Pay the application fee online (INR 4000 for General/OBC/PwD/NRI and INR 3500 for SC/ST/BPL).

Submit the application and print/save the confirmation page for future reference.

Age

CLAT 2026 has no upper age limit for either the undergraduate (UG) or postgraduate (PG) programs. Candidates of any age can apply, provided they meet the educational qualification requirements.

Eligibility criteria

CLAT 2026 UG Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must have passed 10+2 (or equivalent) from a recognised board.

Minimum marks required: 45% for General/OBC/PwD/NRI categories and 40% for SC/ST categories.

Students appearing in their 10+2 exam in 2026 can also apply but must provide proof of qualification at the time of admission.

There is no restriction on the stream (Science/Commerce/Arts) for 10+2; any stream is accepted.

No restriction on the number of attempts for the exam.

CLAT 2026 PG Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must have completed an LL.B. (3-year or 5-year integrated law degree) or equivalent from a recognized university.

Minimum marks required: 50% for General/OBC/PwD/NRI categories and 45% for SC/ST categories.

Final-year LL.B. students are eligible, but must submit proof of qualification at admission.

CLAT is open to Indian nationals, NRIs, and foreign nationals if eligible, and reservation policies apply as per government and university rules. There are no age or attempt limits for either UG or PG programs.

PHD

CLAT itself does not offer a dedicated national-level entrance for PhD law admissions, but some National Law Universities (NLUs) may use CLAT PG scores or conduct their own entrance tests and interviews for PhD programs.

General eligibility criteria for PhD in Law at NLUs usually include:

A Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree from a recognized university with at least 55% aggregate marks (50% for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD categories).

In some universities, candidates with an LL.B. (3-year or 5-year integrated law degree) with at least 55% marks (50% for reserved categories) are also considered, but priority is given to those with an LL.M.

Final-year postgraduate students may apply, but must present proof of qualification at admission.

No upper age limit applies.

Selection involves a research proposal, entrance test, and/or interview as per individual university guidelines.

Why CLAT 2026 score matter?

The CLAT score matters in the market as many companies both PSUs and Private sectors requires CLAT score to appoint candidates.

Recently two leading Public Sector Undertaking have advertised their requirement for CLAT 2026 score holders for their law departments. These PSUs are NTPC and Powergrid.

How to apply?

Candidates are first required to register themselves at the CLAT 2026 website by using personal mobile number and e-mail Id. Upon registration, an OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number for validation. Once the mobile number is validated, candidates can login using mobile number and the password provided at the time of registration.

Required Documents for application form

  1. You should have clear front-facing passport-size recent photograph. Background should be plain
  2. Your signature on the plain paper for uploading
  3. Reserved category students will upload category certificate
  4. Relevant certificate issued by competent authority if candidate is applying under PwD category
  5. Relevant certificate issued by competent authority if candidate is applying under the BPL category
