AFCAT to IAF Officer: Post-Written Steps (Steps 2-4)
The result of AFCAT 01/2026 will be out soon on the official website of AFCAT. Candidates will be to check their result. Is it the last stage of selection. No candidates will have to pass through the AFSB Test.

Documents at the AFSB Test
AFSB Required Documents
Candidates must carry these originals + two attested photocopies to AFSB centers for verification. Ensures eligibility proof—missing docs can disqualify.
Essential Certificates
- AFCAT Admit Card.
- Matriculation/10th original certificate + marksheet (CBSE/ICSE/State Board only—for DOB).
- 10+2 original marksheet + certificate (relevant Board).
- Graduation/PG Degree: Original/provisional University certificate + all semester/year marksheets.
Special Cases
- Final Year Students: College Principal’s certificate (stamped/sealed) stating: college/university name, discipline, aggregate %, expected result date (DD/MM/YYYY).
- Note: College provisional OK here; University provisional for completed degrees.
- NCC: Original ‘C’ certificate (if claiming quota).
- Employed: Employer NOC (Central/State Govt/PSU).
- Pilots: Original DGCA Commercial Pilot License.
Logistics Items
- Travel: Inbound rail/bus tickets (for TA refund).
- Photos: 20 recent passport-size color (light clothes, white background).
IAF Second Cut-Off Policy for AFSB
IAF can set a second cut-off per branch if needed, calling extra candidates based on merit. Targets specific branch vacancies—flexible but restrictive.
Key Rules
- Shortlisting: Pure merit order for one chosen branch (from your registration choices).
- Scope: Valid only for that branch; no cross-branch use.
- Merit Position: Placed below first cut-off qualifiers in overall Order of Merit (Para 9(a)).
- Induction: If selected, join that branch only (vacancies/merit permitting).
- Requirement: Submit undertaking agreeing to terms.
AFSB Testing.
There are three stages in AFSB round check it mentioned below-
Stage-I. The Officer Intelligence Rating Test alongwith Picture Perception and discussion test will be conducted on the first day. Stage-I test is a screening test and only those who qualify would undergo subsequent testing.
All Stage-I qualified candidates would be subjected to document check to ascertain their eligibility for the branches applied for.Those who donot qualify in the first round will go back home and other will go ahead.
Now comes the Stage II
Stage-II. Psychological test will be conducted on Day 1(Evening) and the Group Tests and Interview will commence after document check for the next five days.
For Flying Branch. Computerised Pilot Selection System (CPSS) would be administered to recommended candidates only. This is once in a lifetime test. Candidates who have failed the CPSS/ PABT in an earlier attempt or a Flight Cadet suspended from flying training at Air Force Academy will not be eligible
Step 3: Medical Exams
- If AFSB recommended: Sent to AFCME (New Delhi) or IAM (Bengaluru).
Step 4: All India Merit List
- Based on written exam + AFSB scores (must be medically fit).
- Top ranks get Joining Instructions for training, per vacancies/branches.
IAF Final Merit List Rules
Candidates must hit minimum qualifying marks in both written exam and AFSB, set by IAF. Merit order uses total scores from written + AFSB tests.
