BSc Medical Laboratory Technology is an undergraduate program that provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform laboratory investigations related to the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. The program is designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of laboratory technology in hospital practice.
The curriculum is divided into six semesters, and students are exposed to both theoretical and practical coursework. The program’s first part is an elementary introduction to the operation of a clinical medical laboratory, assuming that learners have little or no prior knowledge. Students will complete courses in haematology, hemostasis, urinalysis, clinical chemistry, immunology, clinical microbiology, molecular diagnostics, and more. The program’s advanced courses focus on applied clinical laboratory techniques, concepts, troubleshooting, and management-level decisions and processes.
