These entrance examinations are a proven effective tool used by almost all educational institutions of the country to select the best candidates from a large pool of applicants for various graduate, post-graduate and professional courses every academic year.

Every year more than a crore students complete their higher secondary education and the colleges have limited slots to fill. Thus a sorting process is essential to get the niche from the large pool of students.

The CET exams test the aptitude of the students through objective questions that are generally designed in 3 to 4  categories namely Logical reasoning, Quantitative aptitude, English, and General knowledge. It aims to assess a candidate on the basis of knowledge, analytical skills, time management, and the ability to work under pressure in order to deliver the right output.

Also, while the CET aids the selection process to a significant extent, it is not the only hurdle. Those who get shortlisted for the CET exams have to go through another phase called a personal interview before a panel of experts. In some colleges, there are group discussion sessions to evaluate a candidate’s communication skills and public speaking skills.

What is the eligibility criteria?

Like many colleges, the eligibility criteria for a graduate and postgraduate course would be 12th and graduation clearance respectively.

It should be noted that there is no restriction for students to apply for exams that are outside their home state meaning a resident of Mumbai can apply for CET conducted for admissions to colleges in Delhi.

The CET Exams are highly competitive and only those students who perform outstandingly in the exams and the interviews get selected to the top colleges of the country.
