1.Certificate in Business Skills

Duration: 6 Months

This Certificate in Business Skills Programme has been developed jointly by IGNOU, Rajiv Gandhi Foundation (RGF) and Commonwealth of Learning (COL), Vancouver, Canada. The main objective of this programme is to enable NGOs and other agencies to develop business skills among street children. This is a vocational programme, as it gives more emphasis to self-employment. This certificate program makes the learners competent in the areas of business communication, entrepreneurship, basic computer knowledge, business organisation and accounting.

2.Certificate of Competency in Power Distribution (Electrical Technicians)

Duration: 6 Months

Technicians /Equivalent Tradesman or Manpower working in the Electricity/Power Sector, adults 8^th pass onwards,

The Certificate of Competency in Power Distribution (Electrical Technicians) (CCPD), programme has been developed by the School of Engineering & Technology, IGNOU in collaboration with the Ministry of Power under the IGNOU-PFC (MoP) Project. Training for job employees to upgrade their skills and the need of skilled fresh recruits/manpower with required skill and knowledge is the critical need of the continuously growing power industry to enhance systemic efficiency and deliver quality power to the satisfaction of beneficiaries

• Technicians /Equivalent tradesmen or manpower working in the electricity/power sector
• Technicians having or pursuing trade certificate in Electrician or related trade; Technician having a license for Foreman/ Lineman/Wireman or license in the relevant area of expertise; Candidates having electrician apprenticeship;

3.Certificate in Teaching of English as a Second Language

Duration: 6 Months
Maximum Duration: 2 Years
Course Fee: Rs. 2,400

Eligibility:

Graduates or three (3) years of BELED
Or
2 years PTT, ETT or 10+2 with two years of teaching experience.

This programme will help the teacher to:
 

Gain insights about the language learner, not only as a cognitive entity but as a social being, functioning in a multilingual environment.

Understand the nature of language as a dynamic entity, subject to variation and change.

Enhance her/his proficiency in English, not only in terms of the structure of English (sounds, words, grammar) but also at the level of discourse.

Critically reflect on her/his classroom experience and innovate in teaching strategies, so that s/he may be able to more effectively teach the four skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing.

4. Certificate in Guidance

The Certificate in Guidance programme has been offered since 1993 and caters to the needs of teachers, parents, social workers and others interested in guiding children aged between 5 and 11 years for better learning and socio-emotional development. This is an awareness-level programme that focuses on their overall development. It is a collaborative programme of the University and has been developed in collaboration with NCERT (National Council for Educational Research and Training).

This Programme is offered both in English and Hindi, and the School of Education has revised the learning materials and aspires to translate the material into other Indian languages. Various schools in the country have been sponsoring teachers for this programme in groups.

5. Certificate in Health Care Waste Management

Duration: 6 Months
Maximum Duration: 2 Years
Course Fee: Rs. 3,000

10+2 or equivalent

Target Group:   Doctors, Nurses, Paramedics, Health Managers and other professional workers.

According to WHO, every year an estimated 16 billion injections are administered worldwide, but not all of the needles and syringes are properly disposed of afterwards. In 2010, unsafe injections were still responsible for as many as 33,800 new HIV infections, 1.7 million hepatitis B infections and 315,000 hepatitis C infections. A person who experiences one needle stick injury from a needle used on an infected source patient has risks of 30%, 1.8%, and 0.3% respectively of becoming infected with HBV, HCV and HIV.

The certificate programme has been developed in line with the Bio-Medical Waste Management (BMWM) rules 2016 of the Government of India and Safe Waste Management from Healthcare Activities, WHO 2014. The aim of the programme is to create essential knowledge and skills in healthcare waste and equip the learners to manage it effectively and safely and safeguard the community against the adverse health impacts of healthcare waste.

6. Certificate in Maternal and Child Health Nursing

Duration: 6 Months
Maximum Duration: 2 Years
Course Fee: Rs. 6,600

Eligibility:

• Nursing professionals (RNRM) with a diploma in general nursing and midwifery (GNM) or above
• Health worker (F)/ANM/Health Supervisor female/LHV

The Certificate in Maternal and Child Health Nursing is a six-month continuing nursing education programme of 16 credits. The broad objectives of this program are to update the knowledge and skills of healthcare providers in reproductive and child health and enable them to render effective healthcare to mothers and children. The programme is meant for ANM/FHW/PHN/Health supervisors and In-service nursing professionals (RNRM). The programme is approved by IGNOU statuary Bodies and UGC.

7. Certificate in Newborn & Infant Nursing

Duration: 6 Months
Maximum Duration: 2 Years

Nursing professionals (RNRM) who have obtained a diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM)/ B.Sc. in Nursing and above.

School of Health Sciences has developed a six-month Certificate Programme in Newborn and Infant Nursing for nursing personnel to meet their training requirement in newborn and infant care. The program aims to improve, strengthen and update nursing professionals’ knowledge and skills in the care of newborns and infants. The emphasis on maternal care, neonatal care and integrated management of neonatal and childhood illness will strengthen their skills in identifying the impact of maternal health on neonatal outcomes and making appropriate nursing interventions to prevent mortality and morbidity due to common newborn and childhood problems.

Certificate Programme in Teaching of Primary School Mathematics

• Most people, children or adults, usually dread mathematics. Why does this happen? We believe that the problem is due to the way mathematics is usually taught from early school on. In this awareness level practical-oriented programme we look at ways in which we can teach mathematics to children in a way that will make them feel positive about it.

Both the courses are built around detailed examples of ways of communicating mathematical concepts/processes/skills to children up to the age of 10.
