After the arrival of HPC systems, the country’s scientific capability to predict the weather will increase. Now we will be able to provide more accurate information about the weather at a hyper local level. That is, we will be able to tell the youth of a village about it. When a supercomputer analyzes the weather and soil in a remote village, it is not just an achievement of science but it is a huge change in the lives of thousands and millions of lives. The supercomputer will ensure that the farmer of even the smallest area will have access to the best knowledge in the world.
The first super computer was installed in IIT BHU and 14 machine was installed in IIT Guwahati.
History of Param Rudra Super Computers in India.
- PARAM 8000
Developed in 1991, this was India’s first supercomputer and the first in the PARAM series. It was developed by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC) and was led by Vijay P. Bhatkar, who is known as the “architect of India’s initiative in supercomputing”. The PARAM 8000 was a 256-node machine that was used for fluid mechanics and structural analysis. It was a success and was exported to Germany, the United Kingdom, and Russia.
- PARAM 8600
This supercomputer was an improvement on the PARAM 8000, and was developed in 1992.
- PARAM 9000
This supercomputer was designed to combine merge cluster processing and massively parallel processing computing workloads, and was first demonstrated in 1994.
- PARAM 10000
This supercomputer was unveiled in 1998 as part of C-DAC’s second mission.
Other supercomputers in the PARAM series include PARAM Shivay, PARAM Shakti, PARAM Brahma, and PARAM Yukti.
