What is Haryana Archival Department?

Department of Archives Haryana Sinchai Bhavan B Block 4th Floor Sector 5 Panchkula

Haryana’s Department of Archaeology and Museums handles archival and heritage preservation, distinct from education recruitment. Established in 1972 under the state’s Heritage and Tourism Ministry, it focuses on protecting ancient sites like Rakhigarhi. It manages excavations, museums, and public outreach without dedicated “archival” internships for Shastri roles.

Core Functions

The department conducts archaeological surveys, excavations, and artifact conservation across Haryana’s historical sites.
It publishes reports, maintains protected monuments, and promotes cultural events like the Rakhigarhi Mahotsav.
Headquartered in Chandigarh’s Sector-10, it oversees four key museums: Jahaj Kothi (Hisar), Panchkula, Panipat, and Pinjore.
