Before knowing its medical advantages,

First, let’s understand what is bioinformatics.

Bioinformatics is the use of IT in biotechnology for data storage, data warehousing and analyzing DNA sequences. It applies computer technology to get the information that is stored in certain types of biological data. Scientists are able to submit, search and analyze information with the central and globally accessible databases offered by Bioinformatics.

The analysis software is useful for data studies, and comparisons and also provides modelling, visualizing, exploring as well as interpreting data.

The scope of bioinformatics:

In today’s time, current biological and medical labs apply methods that produce extremely large data sets, that cannot be analyzed by hand – for example – sequencing human genomes. Thus, modern biological and medical research and development cannot be done without bioinformatics. Additionally, bioinformatics plays an important role in biomedical research. Research work in the area of genetic diseases and medical genomics is rapidly increasing and the future of personalized medicine depends on bioinformatics approaches.

Today’s youth is impressed with this modern field of Medical Science, but they think twice before opting it as a career because they are not clear about its employment opportunities. In this blog, we will talk about the employment opportunities in Bioinformatics:

1. Science Technician:

Science Technician plays a vital role in the provision of high-quality Science teaching schools. They look after lab equipment and help pupils achieve their potential one-to-one support. Science technicians take on a wide range of tasks which include – setting up experiments, maintaining equipment, constructing & modifying apparatus, meeting health & safety standards and also taking an active part in lab demonstrations.

2.  Pharmacogenetician:

The key responsibilities of a bioinformatics programmer comprise formulating a series of computer-based algorithms for data management of large sequences of living material. The main responsibilities of a bioinformatics programmer include: Designing and maintaining the algorithm tools required in assisting the sequencing database analysis, analyzing the sequencing data for its integration in genome browsers and administering the sequence projects, sequencing datasets, and other computational algorithms for accurate interpretation of the biological systems and developing the necessary tools for tracking the next generation sequencing databases.

3. Bioinformatics programmer/specialist/analyst:

The key responsibilities of a bioinformatics programmer comprise formulating a series of computer-based algorithms for data management of large sequences of living material. The main responsibilities of a bioinformatics programmer include: Designing and maintaining the algorithm tools required in assisting the sequencing database analysis, analyzing the sequencing data for its integration in genome browsers and administering the sequence projects, sequencing datasets, and other computational algorithms for accurate interpretation of the biological systems and developing the necessary tools for tracking the next generation sequencing databases.

4. Biostatistician:

Bio statisticians design biological experiments primarily in the field of agriculture as well as medicine. They collect, dissect, summarize the data, & also release information based on the findings of that data. They are a critical addition to any research team and are often involved in the writing of papers on groundbreaking topics & research. They work on methods in applied as well as theoretical statistics in order to advance the science of data analysis beyond current levels.

5. Cheminformatician:

A Cheminformatician focuses on the discovery and development of innovative medicines and solutions to transform the lives of people living with severe diseases affecting the immune and central nervous systems.

6. Molecule modeller:

Molecular modelling encompasses all methods, theoretical as well as computational methods in order to model or mimic the behaviour of molecules. The methods are used in the fields of computational chemistry, drug design, computational biology and materials science in order to study molecular systems ranging from small chemical systems to large biological molecules as well as material assemblies. Although simplest calculations can be performed by hand, inevitably computers are required to perform molecular modelling of any reasonably sized system.
