NIMCET 2026 (NIT MCA Common Entrance Test 2026) is the national-level entrance exam for admission to the Master of Computer Applications (MCA) program in various National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and some IIITs.

It is conducted jointly by the participating NITs on a rotational basis. Admission to MCA seats in the following institutes is based solely on NIMCET rank:

NIMCET 2026 eligibility
- Nationality → Indian Nationals only
- Qualifying Degree (any one of the following):
- B.Sc / B.Sc (Hons) / BCA / BIT / B.Voc (Computer Applications/Computer Science) with Mathematics / Statistics as one of the subjects
- B.E. / B.Tech. (any discipline)
- Minimum Marks (in qualifying degree):
- General / OBC category → 60% aggregate or 6.5 CGPA (on 10-point scale)
- SC / ST category → 55% aggregate or 6.0 CGPA
- Final Year Appearing → Eligible (provisional admission — must submit proof before counselling deadline)
- Distance / Open Learning → Accepted if recognized by UGC / AICTE
- Age Limit → No upper age limit
Exam Pattern (Expected – Usually same)
- Mode → Computer-Based Test (CBT)
- Duration → 2 hours (120 minutes)
- Total Questions → 120 MCQs
- Total Marks → 1000 (some questions carry more weight)
- Marking Scheme → +4 marks for correct answer, -1 mark for wrong answer (negative marking)
- Sections & Weightage (approximate):
- Mathematics → 50 questions (highest weight)
- Analytical Ability & Logical Reasoning → 40 questions

- Prepare using graduation-level Mathematics (sets, probability, calculus, coordinate geometry, vectors, etc.) + reasoning + basic computer concepts + English.
