First, let’s understand who can apply for BITSAT
Students who are appearing in Class 12 or those who have passed Class 12 are eligible to apply. However, there is an important condition—only your latest performance will be considered. Also, your result must be available before the official deadline.
Now, let’s talk about the subject requirements.
For students applying to BE and MSc programmes, it is mandatory to have:
Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, along with one language subject and one additional subject.
For BPharm and Environmental Engineering, students can have:
Physics, Chemistry, and Biology or Mathematics.
Next comes the most important part—marks criteria.
To be eligible for BITSAT:
You must score at least 75% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics or Biology.
And at the same time, you must have minimum 60% marks in each subject individually.
Remember, both theory and practical marks are included while calculating your percentage.
Now, let’s discuss students who are planning to improve their scores.
If you are not satisfied with your marks, you can:
Appear for improvement exams in specific subjects,
Or even retake all subjects of Class 12.
But again, your final result must be declared before the deadline, and your pass status should remain unchanged.
Another important point is for PCB students applying for BPharm—
You should have basic knowledge of Mathematics at the Class 10 level.
So, in summary, if you want to appear for BITSAT, you need:
Correct subject combination,
Minimum required marks,
And valid passing year eligibility.
BITSAT Eligibility Summery
| Criteria | BE & MSc Programmes | BPharm & Environmental Engineering |
| Qualification | Class 12 (10+2) from recognized board | Class 12 (10+2) from recognized board |
| Mandatory Subjects | Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics | Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Mathematics |
| Total Subjects Required | Minimum 5 subjects (including 1 language + 1 additional subject) | Minimum 5 subjects (including 1 language + 1 additional subject) |
| Minimum Aggregate Marks | 75% in PCM | 75% in PCB/PCM |
| Minimum Individual Marks | 60% in each subject (PCM) | 60% in each subject (PCB/PCM) |
| Marks Calculation | Theory + Practical included | Theory + Practical included |
| Special Requirement | — | PCB students must have Maths knowledge (Class 10 level) |
BITSAT Eligibility For Internationally Board Students
Next is for international board students.
If you are from the Cambridge (CAIE) board, you must complete the required subjects at the A Level.
Similarly, for IB board students, the subjects must be completed at the Higher Level. This is mandatory to meet the BITSAT eligibility criteria.
Now, an interesting opportunity is available for MSc students.
If you take admission in an MSc programme at BITS Pilani, you can apply for a Dual Degree in Engineering after your first year. However, this is based entirely on your academic performance at BITS, making it competitive.
Moving ahead, let’s talk about the 2+2 international dual degree programmes.
Through BITSAT 2025, students not only get admission into BITS campuses but also get a chance to apply for international collaborations with top universities like:
- RMIT University (Australia)
- Iowa State University (USA)
- University at Buffalo (USA)
In this program, students study:
- First 2 years in India at BITS Pilani
- Next 2 years abroad, gaining global exposure and international education
Now, an important restriction you must know—
Students who are already studying at any BITS campus are not eligible to appear for BITSAT again.
Also, students who passed Class 12 in 2024 or earlier are not eligible.
Let’s talk about admission criteria.
Admissions are strictly merit-based, which means your BITSAT score plays the most important role. However, you must still meet the minimum Class 12 marks requirement.
Finally, there is a special advantage for board toppers.
Students who secure first rank in their State or Central board exams in 2025 can get direct admission into BITS Pilani, regardless of their BITSAT score—provided they meet the eligibility criteria.
BITSAT Exam Pattern: Test Format, Marking Scheme & Syllabus
The BITSAT exam pattern is designed to test candidates on Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology, English Proficiency, and Logical Reasoning through a computer-based online test (CBT). Understanding the BITSAT test format, marking scheme, and question distribution is essential for effective preparation.
