The counselling process for seat allotment for UG and PG courses in Uttarakhand is starting from 28 May 2026. You are aware there is no entrance test in the state for admission to professional courses. The admission in engineering is based on the JEE Main rank 2026.

UTU Counselling 2026 Guidelines
For First Year (B.Tech) Admission
Admission priority will be decided on the following basis:
- JEE Main Rank holders will be given first preference.
- If required, Class 12 (Intermediate) percentage marks in all subjects issued by the concerned education board will be considered.
- In case candidates have equal marks, date of birth/age criteria will apply. The older candidate will get preference.
UTU Counselling 2026 Lateral Entry
For Second Year (B.Tech / B.Pharm Lateral Entry) Admission
- Counselling will be conducted on the basis of Qualifying Examination merit. Merit will be prepared according to marks obtained in the qualifying examination.
- If the qualifying exam result is not declared, merit will be calculated on the basis of previous academic performance as per prescribed criteria:
- 50% weightage of First Year marks
- 50% weightage of Second Year marks
- No back paper/carry paper should be pending.
- Such candidates must submit an undertaking/affidavit at the time of admission confirming that the Diploma pass certificate will be submitted by 30 September 2026 or before the final date fixed by the regulatory authority. Failure to submit it will lead to cancellation of admission, and responsibility will remain with the candidate.
Important Note
- In the first three rounds of counselling, Lateral Entry admissions to Second Year are available for Uttarakhand State Quota candidates.
- Candidates applying under the State Quota reserved seats must produce a domicile certificate.
- Candidates who completed their Diploma from Uttarakhand will also be eligible for State Quota general category seats.
- After completion of three rounds, if seats remain vacant, they may be opened for All India Quota candidates in further rounds.
- For B.Tech Second Year admissions, Diploma holders will get first priority. Remaining seats, if any, will be filled by B.Sc. qualified candidates.
UTU Counselling 2026 Guidelines for OIther Courses
First Year BHMCT / BCA / BBA Admission
Admission will be based on:
- Class 12 (Higher Secondary) percentage marks in all subjects issued by the concerned board.
- In case of equal marks, older candidates (Date of Birth criteria) will be given preference.
First Year M.Tech / MCA / MBA / MHM Admission
Admission criteria:
- If the candidate has completed Graduation (as per AICTE norms), admission will be based on graduation percentage marks.
OR
- If the candidate is studying in the final year of a 4-year graduation programme, merit will be calculated using:
- 25% of First Year marks
- 25% of Second Year marks
- 50% of Third Year marks
OR
- If the candidate is studying in the final year of a 4-year programme through Lateral Entry (B.Tech as per AICTE norms), merit will be based on:
- 50% of Second Year marks
- 50% of Third Year marks
OR
- If the candidate is studying in the final year of a 3-year graduation programme, merit will be calculated using:
- 50% of First Year marks
- 50% of Second Year marks
- In case of equal marks, older candidates will receive preference.
- Candidates appearing in the final year qualifying examination, whose result is not declared at the time of admission, must submit an undertaking stating that they will submit the degree/provisional certificate by 30 September 2026 or before the last date notified by the competent authority. Failure to do so may result in cancellation of admission.
Note: For M.Tech programmes, GATE qualified candidates will be given preference.
UTU Counselling 2026 First Year B.Pharm Admission
Admission will be based on:
- Class 12 percentage marks in all prescribed subjects issued by the concerned board.
- If marks are equal, older candidates will get preference.
First Year Pharm.D Admission
Admission criteria:
- Class 12 percentage marks
OR
- If the candidate has completed Diploma in Pharmacy, then Diploma percentage marks will be considered.
- Diploma holders will receive first priority for seat allotment/admission. Remaining seats will then be allotted to 12th pass candidates.
- In case of equal marks, older candidates will be preferred.
First Year Pharm.D (PB) Admission
Admission will be based on:
- B.Pharm percentage marks
- In case of equal marks, older candidates will get preference.
First Year M.Pharm Admission
Admission criteria:
- Graduation percentage marks (as per PCI norms).
- If marks are equal, older candidates will receive preference.
- Final-year appearing candidates whose results are pending at admission time must submit an undertaking confirming submission of the degree/provisional certificate by 30 September 2026 or before the prescribed last date. Otherwise, admission may be cancelled.
Note: For M.Pharm programmes, GPAT qualified candidates will be given preference.
Online Counselling Process & Important Instructions
Counselling Fee UTU Counselling 2026
- Candidates participating in online counselling must pay a non-refundable counselling fee of ₹2000 during registration through the online portal.
Choice Filling
- After fee payment, candidates must fill institution/branch choices.
- Candidates who fill choices in the first round do not need to refill them in the second or third round.
- Candidates are advised to fill the maximum possible choices.
Seat Allotment Options for UTU counselling 2026
If a seat is allotted in the first counselling round, candidates will get three options:
1. Freeze
If the candidate selects Freeze:
- ₹10,000 admission confirmation amount must be deposited online.
- Candidate must report to the allotted institution within the prescribed dates with:
- Original documents
- Required certificates
- Remaining admission fee
- After choosing Freeze, the candidate will exit the counselling process.
If a candidate selects Freeze but fails to report for admission, admission will not be considered valid. The candidate can participate again only after paying a fresh ₹2000 non-refundable counselling fee.
2. Float
If the candidate selects Float:
- Candidate must deposit ₹10,000 online.
- Candidate remains eligible for better seat upgradation in later counselling rounds.
Process:
- If a better seat is not allotted in Round-2, the previously allotted seat remains reserved.
- Candidate can still wait for a better option in Round-3.
- If no better seat is allotted in Round-3, the previously allotted seat remains final.
- Candidate must then report to the institution with documents and complete admission formalities.
If a better seat is allotted in Round-2 or Round-3, the candidate can again choose Freeze.
Important Note: The ₹10,000 payment should preferably be made from the candidate’s or parents’ bank account because refunds, if applicable, will be processed to the same account.
3. Withdraw
If the candidate selects Withdraw:
- Candidate exits the counselling process.
- To participate again in later rounds, the candidate must register again as a new applicant and pay the ₹2000 non-refundable counselling fee.
If No Seat Is Allotted
If no seat is allotted in the first or second round, the candidate:
- Can participate in the next round.
- Does not need to pay any additional counselling fee.
- Can modify/fill choices again.
Registration & Portal Instructions for UTU counselling 2026
- Complete counselling information is available on UKTU/UTU website: http://uktech.ac.in
- Candidates must first create a Login ID and Password and complete online registration.
- Carefully check all information entered during registration.
- Incorrect information or lack of supporting documents can lead to seat cancellation.
Allotment Letter & Reporting
- Candidates can download/print the Allotment Letter from the website.
- Candidates must report to the allotted institution before the deadline with:
- Original documents
- One set of self-attested photocopies
- 2 passport photographs
- Follow the verification instructions issued by the allotted institution.

Domicile / Reservation Rules
State Quota Seats
For admission under Uttarakhand State Quota reserved seats, candidates must provide a domicile certificate.
Women candidates seeking admission under Women quota seats must also fulfill domicile requirements.
Armed Force (AF) Category
AF seats are reserved for dependents of Ex-Servicemen.
Required certificate:
- Issued by Sainik Welfare Board
- Counter-signed by SDM
Reservation Certificates
All reservation certificates must be issued in the format prescribed by the Government of Uttarakhand.
If required documents are not produced at admission time, the allotted seat will be automatically cancelled and offered in the next counselling phase.
