Admission JNVST 2027 for Class 6 Admission. Candidates must apply only for the JNV in the district where they are bona fide residents and are studying Class 5. A candidate studying in a recognized school in a neighbouring district may still apply for the JNV in their home district, provided the school is within 10 km of their residence. This distance will be verified by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS).

Applicants must be studying Class 5 during the 2026–27 academic session in a Government or Government-recognized school. Candidates who passed or repeated Class 5 before the 2026–27 session are not eligible to apply. NVS may verify previous application records to identify repeat candidates.

If a district has been bifurcated but no new JNV has been established in the new district, the original district boundaries will be used to determine eligibility. At the time of admission, provisionally selected candidates must submit valid proof of residence confirming that they are bona fide residents of the district for which they have applied.

JNVST 2027: Age Eligibility

Candidates applying for JNVST 2027 must be born between 1 May 2015 and 31 July 2017 (both dates inclusive). At the time of JNVST 2027 for Class 6 Admission, provisionally selected candidates must produce a valid birth certificate issued by a competent government authority.

The age criterion applies equally to candidates of all categories, including SC, ST, OBC, and Divyang. In rare cases where there is doubt about a candidate’s age, NVS may refer the case to a Medical Board for age verification. The Medical Board’s decision will be final and binding.

JNVST 2027 for Class 6 Admission: Repeat Attempts Not Allowed

Candidates can appear for the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST) only once. Those who have already appeared in the selection test in any previous year are not eligible to apply again, regardless of the reason. NVS will verify the details provided in the application form, and if a candidate is found to be a repeat applicant, their candidature will be cancelled at any stage of the admission process.

JNVST 2027: Rural, Urban & Reservation Rules

  • Rural Candidates: At least 75% of seats are reserved for rural candidates. Applicants must have studied Classes III, IV, and V in Government/Government-aided/Government-recognized rural schools, with Class V in the same district where admission is sought. NIOS candidates must submit a valid rural status certificate.
  • Urban Candidates: Candidates who studied in an urban school even for one day during Classes III, IV, or V will be treated as urban candidates.
  • Transgender Candidates: No separate reservation is available. They are considered under the Boys category for reservation purposes.
  • Reservation Policy: Reservations are provided as per Government norms—SC (minimum 15%), ST (minimum 7.5%), OBC (27%), Girls (minimum one-third of seats), and Divyang candidates. Remaining seats are filled on merit, and rural open seats are allocated block-wise based on the rural population.

  • Ensure the OMR sheet and Question Booklet have the same serial number. Report any mismatch to the invigilator immediately.
  • The exam duration is 2 hours, with 40 minutes of extra time for Divyang candidates.
  • Candidates must score at least 14 marks in Mental Ability & EVS and 7 marks each in Arithmetic and Language to qualify.
  • A bell will ring every 30 minutes to help manage time.
  • Carry a valid Admit Card; entry without it is not allowed.
