Additional Time for Attendance and Verification

To make up for the time taken by the manual and digital attendance and verification processes, the candidates will be given extra time.

This may include:

  • Photograph matching
  • Face ID verification
  • Biometric authentication
  • Signature capture
  • Thumb impression capture

For each section, one extra minute will be given, up to a maximum of three additional minutes per section of the examination. As a result, the candidates will have a total of 153 minutes for Part I and 153 minutes for Part II.

Time-Bound Sections in FMGE

The FMGE October 2026 Exam Pattern will be made up of a number of timed sections.

For example, if each part contains three sections—Section A, Section B and Section C:

  • Each section will have 50 questions.
  • Fifty minutes will be allowed for answering the questions.
  • You will get 1 more minute to take attendance and check it, either by hand or with a device.

Important Sectional Restrictions

Candidates must remain in the present section until the time allowed for it has been finished in order to proceed to the next section.

Once the time allotted to a section expires:

  • It is not possible for candidates to look at the questions in that section.
  • It is not possible for candidates to change their answers in that section.
  • The following section will then start automatically.

The number of sections that have a time limit may differ according to the total number of questions and the practicality of setting up such sections.

Option to Mark Questions for Review

Candidates can choose to request a review of any question, even if they have attempted it. A question that is marked can be returned to before the time allowed for that section has ended. The questions that have been flagged for review will be assessed using the relevant marking scheme.

Important: After the time set for a section has expired, candidates will no longer be able to go back to that section.

FMGE Negative Marking

The FMGE October 2026 will not have negative marking.

Correct AnswerMarks as applicable
Wrong AnswerNo negative marking
Unattempted QuestionNo negative marking

FMGE Qualifying Marks

A candidate will be declared qualified only after securing a minimum of:

150 marks out of 300

The FMGE result for eligible candidates will be displayed on the NBEMS website as:

  • Pass, or
  • Fail

The individual marks earned in Part I and Part II will not be made public.

No Re-totalling or Re-evaluation

There is no provision for:

  • Re-totalling of marks
  • Re-evaluation of answers
  • Award of grace marks

Candidates should therefore take the examination carefully within the time limits specified for each section.

FMGE Number of Attempts

A candidate may take the FMGE as many times as they like. FMGE is a qualifying examination; after a candidate qualifies by taking the FMGE, they will no longer be eligible to take it again. A candidate’s examination taken in breach of this provision will be declared invalid and cancelled.
