ISI Admission 2026
The application form will open on February 12 for admission to various UG/PG/Diploma and JRF programmes. The institute may or may not conduct the written test, it can absorb candidates through interview.
The Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), founded in 1931 by Prof. P.C. Mahalanobis in Kolkata, is India’s premier public research institute for statistics, mathematics, and data sciences. Declared an “Institute of National Importance” in 1959, it operates multiple campuses (Kolkata HQ, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Tezpur, Giridih) and excels in theoretical/applied research, including NSS surveys and SQC/OR units.
ISI offers UG honors (B.Stat Hons, B.Math Hons, B.SDS Hons with stipends), PG/MS/MTech (M.Stat, M.Math, MS QE/QMBA/LIS with ₹8K/month stipends), diplomas (PGDSMA, PGDAS), and JRFs leading to PhDs across stats, math, CS, econ, bio-sciences.

Applicants with externally funded fellowships (e.g., NBHM/CSIR/UGC/ICMR/DBT/Inspire JRF) seeking ISI PhD admission—where the thesis is submitted to another institution—can apply year-round.
