Prohibited combinations include repeating similar subjects across groups (e.g., Economics and Economic Applications).

Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme

The assessment combines external exams (written papers) and internal assessments (projects, practicals). There are no major changes for 2025-26; the format is student-friendly with choices in questions.

  • Group I & II: 80% external exam + 20% internal assessment.
  • Group III: 50% external + 50% internal (total 100 marks external + 100 internal for most).

Key Patterns by Group:

  • Group I: English (Paper 1: Composition, Letter, Unseen Passage; Paper 2: Literature from textbooks). History/Civics/Geography (Short answers + structured questions, including map work). Second Language (Composition, Grammar, Translation).
  • Group II: Mathematics (Section A: Short answers; Section B: Long questions with choices). Science (Each paper: Short answers + structured questions). Others follow similar sectional formats with compulsory shorts and choice-based longs.
  • Group III: Varies; e.g., Computer Applications (Programming questions); Art (Multiple papers on drawing/composition); Physical Education (Theory on skills/games).

Internal assessments emphasize projects and practical skills. The syllabus incorporates reductions from prior years (e.g., shortened chapters in Maths) to ease workload, with a focus on digital literacy and environmental awareness.

Syllabus Highlights for Major Subjects

The 2025-26 syllabus (applicable for 2026 exams) is detailed in official PDFs on cisce.org, with no major reductions beyond pandemic adjustments. Focus on core concepts, with internal components integrated.
