CBSE & Income Tax Department – Madhukar Magazine
The Income Tax Department has released a special comic book titled “Madhukar Explains Income-tax Act, 2025”. It was published on 29 March 2026 and is designed to explain the new simplified Income-tax Act, 2025 (which came into effect from 1 April 2026) in a simple, engaging, and child-friendly way.
- Purpose: To help school children (and even general readers) easily understand the basics of income tax, the new tax law, why taxes are important, and how a simple tax system helps build a stronger India. It uses clear language, illustrations, and storytelling so that students can grasp complex concepts without difficulty.
- Character: The main character is Madhukar, who explains the provisions of the new Income Tax Act in a fun and easy manner.
- Language: Available in English and Hindi.
- Target Audience: School children, students, teachers, and parents – perfect for building tax awareness from a young age.
This comic is part of the Income Tax Department’s broader Tax Awareness Comic Books series (which also includes the popular Motu Patlu series promoted by CBSE in October 2025).

CBSE Connection
CBSE had earlier issued a circular in October 2025 asking all affiliated schools to use the Motu Patlu tax comic series. The new Madhukar comic on the Income-tax Act, 2025 is a fresh addition in 2026 and is also recommended for schools to promote financial and tax literacy.
