The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has announced NEET SS 2025 Counselling Round 2. The earlier notification issued on August 3 has been withdrawn following a directive from the Delhi High Court, which allowed certain petitioner candidates to re-register and participate in the second round of counselling.
According to the official notice, the revised schedule has been issued in compliance with the Delhi High Court’s order dated August 5, 2026, in Writ Petition (Civil) No. 11097/2026 – Sunil and Another vs Medical Counselling Committee. The court directed MCC to permit the petitioner candidates to re-register for Round 2. Taking into account the court’s observations, the competent authority decided to reopen the registration process and extend another opportunity to eligible candidates.

MCC Adds 153 Tamil Nadu Super Speciality Seats
In addition to revising the counselling schedule, MCC has updated the Round 2 seat matrix by adding 153 vacant in-service super speciality seats from Tamil Nadu. The inclusion follows the Supreme Court’s order dated July 28, 2026, in the case of Tamil Nadu Medical Officers Association & Another vs Union of India & Others.
According to MCC, the Tamil Nadu State Selection Committee returned these seats to the central counselling authority in compliance with the Supreme Court’s directions. Candidates participating in Round 2 can now opt for these newly added seats while submitting their preferences.
Eight Seats Removed From Round 2 Matrix
MCC has also removed eight super speciality seats from the Round 2 counselling matrix after receiving requests from five participating institutes across the country.
Candidates are advised to carefully check the revised seat matrix before filling or modifying their choices, as the addition and withdrawal of seats may impact seat availability across various super speciality courses and participating institutions.
