Under the Special Scholarship, 40 scholarships per division are provided, comprising 20 for boys and 20 for girls. Gender slots can be interchanged if there is a shortage within a category.
LIC has 112 Divisional Offices, and the scheme document explains that each division will select 120 students—80 under the General Scholarship and 40 under the Special Scholarship.
LIC Golden Jubilee Scholarship Selection Process
Selection is primarily based on academic merit.
Candidates are shortlisted and selected based on their percentage of marks in Class 12 or Class 10, as applicable. If candidates have the same percentage, preference is given to the candidate whose parents have lower income. If both marks and income are the same, LIC may consider a financial assessment of the candidate’s family circumstances.
The LIC Golden Jubilee Scholarship 2026 application is automatically routed to one of LIC’s 112 divisions based on the applicant’s address PIN code. Each division ranks eligible applicants according to academic merit. Selected candidates are informed through email, followed by physical document verification by divisional officials.
Waiting list
Divisions that receive sufficient online applications and fill their allotted quota will prepare separate waiting lists for the General Scholarship and Special Scholarship in categories where the quota has been exhausted. After the selection process, if vacancies remain due to a shortfall in selections, the LIC Golden Jubilee Foundation may, at its discretion, permit divisions with waiting lists to select additional eligible candidates from those lists, subject to the overall limit of 8,960 scholarships (112 × 80) under the General Scholarship and 4,480 scholarships (112 × 40) under the Special Scholarship.
Can Students Receive Another Scholarship?
Candidates already receiving scholarships from another trust or institution are generally not considered for the LIC Golden Jubilee Foundation Scholarship. However, this restriction does not apply to students receiving scholarships from the Central or State Government.
Renewal Requirements
Students must meet certain academic requirements to continue receiving the scholarship.
- For General Scholarship students pursuing Medical and Engineering courses, the candidate must obtain at least 55% marks or equivalent SGPA/CGPA in the previous annual or semester examination and must pass all subjects.
- For General Scholarship students pursuing Arts, Science, Commerce and other graduation courses, at least 50% marks or equivalent SGPA/CGPA are required, along with passing all subjects.
- For Special Scholarship students, at least 50% marks and a pass in all subjects in the first yearly examination are required to continue.
