JEE Advanced 2026 Chance for 2023 Candidates

Special relaxation for “2023–24 result declared late”

This is a board‑specific exception:

  • If the Class XII result for academic year 2023–24 was declared on or after 18 June 2024, then:
    • Those candidates who appeared in 2024 are still eligible for JEE Advanced 2026 (if they meet all other criteria).
  • But if the same board declared 2023–24 results before 18 June 2024, then:
    • Even if a candidate’s result was withheld, that 2024 appearance is treated as first‑time in 2024, and the candidate is not eligible for JEE Advanced 2026.
  1. Preparatory‑course candidates (2025 intake)
    • Candidates who were admitted to a preparatory course in any IIT for the first time in 2025 can appear in JEE Advanced 2026.
    • This is a special exception and does not bar them from re‑appearing.
  2. Candidates who were allocated but did NOT join IIT in 2025
A candidate is still eligible for JEE Advanced 2026 if, in JoSAA 2025, one of the following happened:
    • They did not report online or at any reporting centre for the IIT seat.
    • They withdrew before the last round of seat allotment for IITs.
    • Their seat was cancelled before the last IIT round (for any reason).

In these cases, they did not actually get admitted, so they can reappear in JEE Advanced 2026.

Important condition: Must satisfy other criteria

  • In all the above cases, the candidate must still satisfy Criterion A1 to A4 (top 2,50,000 in JEE Main B.E./B.Tech., Class XII year, age, and other academic rules).
  • If any of A1–A4 fails, the candidate is not eligible, even if their IIT‑admission‑history rule is satisfied.
