National Teachers Awards 2026: President Droupadi Murmu to Honour 48 Teachers on September 5

President of India Droupadi Murmu will confer the National Teachers Awards 2026 on 48 outstanding school teachers at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on September 5, 2026, on the occasion of Teachers’ Day. Short documentaries showcasing the exemplary work of each awardee will also be presented during the ceremony.

The Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education, organises the National Teachers Awards every year to recognise teachers who have made exceptional contributions to improving school education and enriching the lives of their students.

48 Teachers Selected for National Teachers Awards 2026

A total of 48 school teachers have been selected through a rigorous three-stage selection process at the District, State and National levels. The awardees represent 27 States, 7 Union Territories and 6 Central Government organisations.

Among the 48 selected teachers, 26 are male and 22 are female.

Eligible teachers were invited to submit online self-nominations through the Ministry of Education’s National Teachers Awards portal from June 15 to July 20, 2026.

Teachers from Across India Selected

The 2026 awardees include teachers from government schools as well as institutions such as Kendriya Vidyalayas, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas and Eklavya Model Residential Schools.

The selected teachers represent states including Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and West Bengal.

National Teachers Awards 2026 Ceremony

The award ceremony will take place at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on September 5. The programme will be telecast live on Doordarshan and SWAYAM PRABHA channels of the Ministry of Education. It will also be streamed through the Ministry’s webcast platform and social media channels.
