NEET UG 2026 Admission Cutoffs (Marks Needed for Seat Allotment)

These are much higher than qualifying marks. They vary every year based on:

  • Number of seats
  • Difficulty of exam
  • Number of applicants
  • State quota vs All India Quota (AIQ)
  • Category

Expected Marks for Government Medical Colleges (MBBS)

CategoryTop Govt Colleges / AIIMS / JIPMER (Safe Score)Average Govt Colleges (Safe Score)State Quota (Many States)
General (UR/EWS)650–720+580–620+550–610+
OBC620–680+550–600+520–590+
SC520–580+450–530+420–500+
ST490–550+400–480+380–460+
  • All India Quota (AIQ 15%) in government colleges usually requires higher marks than state quota (85%).
  • Top institutes like AIIMS Delhi, JIPMER, MAMC Delhi, Seth GS Mumbai etc. need 670–720+ for General category.

Expected Marks for Private / Deemed Medical Colleges (MBBS)

CategoryTop Private / Deemed CollegesAverage Private CollegesManagement / NRI Quota
General500–580+400–520+200–400+
OBC / SC / ST450–550+380–500+150–350+
  • Many private colleges (especially through state counselling) accept scores as low as 400–450 for General in later rounds.
  • Deemed universities often have separate counselling with slightly higher cutoffs.
  • Management/NRI quota seats have the lowest cutoffs but very high fees (₹20–50+ lakhs per year).

Important Points

  • Government seats are highly competitive — you generally need 550+ (General) for a decent chance in average government colleges.
  • Private seats are more accessible but expensive. Fees in private colleges range from ₹8–25 lakhs per year (plus one-time charges).
  • Cutoffs are released separately for each counselling round by MCC (for AIQ/Deemed) and state counselling authorities.
  • State-wise variation is huge — e.g., cutoffs in states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan are different from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh.

For NEET 2026, the exact cutoffs will be known only after the result and during counselling (June–August 2026).

Would you like me to give you:

  • Expected cutoffs for your specific state (e.g., Delhi, UP, Bihar, etc.)?
  • Previous year (2025) actual closing ranks/marks for popular colleges?
  • Or safe target scores based on your category?
