Introduction
The NEET UG 2026 Result answer key has been released for the retest which was scheduled on June 21. The NEET UG 2026 Result is expected by the candidates who have re appeared in the NEET UG exam 2026. If all goes well it seems that NTA may declare the result before July 20.
Though exat date could be anything 17 or 18 July 2026. We hope the NTA speeds its activitiy of declaring the result early. The admission process for MBBS, BDS, Ayush and Nursing courses got delayed with this re exam.
Candidates who appeared for the re-test will be able to check their results online using their application number and date of birth. The result will include the candidate’s score, percentile, All India Rank (AIR), category rank, and qualifying status. Qualified candidates will become eligible to participate in the NEET UG counselling process for admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other undergraduate medical courses.
What the NEET UG 2026 Result merit list is for
- NTA prepares a merit list of eligible candidates who have opted for 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats based solely on their NEET (UG)‑2026 marks.
This list is useful for online counselling for AIQ MBBS/BDS seats in government medical/dental colleges across India
This excludes those not participating in 15% AIQ).
Who receives the list
The list of successful candidates is forwarded to:
Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS/MCC) under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare for allopathic (MBBS/BDS) counselling.
NCISM (National Commission for Indian System of Medicine) and NCH (National Commission for Homoeopathy), under Ministry of AYUSH, for AYUSH AIQ counselling (BAMS, BHMS, etc.)
NEET UG 2026 Result sharing
- NTA will issue All India Rank (AIR) and NEET UG 2026 Result to the candidate, and will also share this data with DGHS, Ministry of Health, and Ministry of AYUSH along with NCISM and NCH so that:
- MCC‑DGHS can conduct online counselling for 15% AIQ MBBS/BDS seats.
- AYUSH authorities can conduct counselling for 15% AIQ AYUSH seats.
How this affects you as an aspirant
- If you opt for 15% All India Quota in your application, your candidature will be in this AIQ merit list;
- your AIR will decide your chances in MBBS/BDS and AYUSH AIQ counselling.
- You must separately register for MCC (for MBBS/BDS AIQ) and AYUSH‑CC (for AYUSH AIQ) counselling when the portals open, based on your NEET‑2026 AIR and list prepared by NTA.
Minimum percentile for AYUSH courses
For undergraduate BAMS / BSMS / BUMS / BHMS, the minimum qualifying percentile in NEET (UG) is:
- General / General‑EWS candidates: 50th percentile
- SC / ST / OBC‑NCL candidates: 40th percentile
If you do not reach this percentile, you are not eligible for counselling or admission to these AYUSH courses through NEET, even if you appeared in the exam.
Special cases for PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disability)
For candidates with benchmark disability (PwBD) under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016:
- PwBD – General / GEN‑EWS: 45th percentile
- PwBD – SC / ST / OBC‑NCL: 40th percentile
These lower percentiles are relaxations only for PwBD candidates; otherwise the same course‑wise eligibility rules apply.
How this relates to your preparation
- Percentile, not percentage, is what matters: your score is comparable with the all‑India NEET‑UG merit list for that year.
- For General category, roughly 50th percentile equals around 130–150 marks (varies slightly year‑to‑year),
- while 40th percentile for SC/ST/OBC is roughly 105–115 marks.
- Even if you cross the minimum percentile, admission to specific colleges depends on cutoff ranks (which are much higher than qualifying‑percentile marks).
All India Merit List for AYUSH Courses
An All India Merit List of qualified candidates will be prepared based on their All India Rank (AIR) in the NEET UG 2026 Result. Admission to undergraduate Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, and Homoeopathy (ASU & H) courses (BAMS, BSMS, BUMS, BHMS) will be only from this merit list, following the existing reservation rules (for SC/ST/OBC‑NCL, EWS, PwBD, etc.)
Who conducts the NEET UG counselling?
- All India Quota (AIQ) seats in:
- Government, Government‑aided institutes
- Central Universities
- National Institutes
- Deemed to be Universities
are through online counselling conducted by the Ayush Admissions Central Counselling Committee (AACCC) under the Ministry of AYUSH.
- AIQ seats in Private ASU & H institutes will be filled through counselling conducted by an authority designated by the Central Government.
- State‑quota seats in all ASU & H institutes (government and private) will be filled by the respective State Government/UT counselling authorities, as per the regulations notified under the NCISM Act, 2020 and NCH Act, 2020.
Candidate details and category rules
- The details you provide in the NEET UG 2026 online application – such as category (General/EWS/SC/ST/OBC‑NCL), phone number, email ID, etc. – will be used for All India Quota seat counselling.
- No change in category will be allowed at the time of All India Quota counselling; the category you filled in the NEET application will be treated as final for AIQ‑seat allotment.
