What is UCEED?
UCEED is a national-level entrance examination for students seeking admission to undergraduate design programmes conducted by IIT Bombay. Through the main UCEED admission process, scores are used for BDes admissions at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Indore, IIT Roorkee, and IIITDM Jabalpur.

Therefore, students from Arts, Humanities or Commerce streams can apply for BDes admission at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Hyderabad and IIT Indore, subject to fulfilling the other eligibility conditions. However, students targeting IIT Guwahati or IIT Roorkee must have studied PCM, while IIITDM Jabalpur accepts candidates with PCM or PCB.
Candidates appearing for Class 12 or an equivalent qualifying examination in the relevant year must also satisfy the institute-specific subject requirements before applying for BDes admission.
For UCEED 2027 Registration, candidates had to satisfy three conditions:
- Age limit: Candidates in the Open/EWS/OBC-NCL categories had to be born on or after October 1, 2001, while SC/ST/PwD candidates had to be born on or after October 1, 1996.
- Number of attempts: A candidate could appear for UCEED a maximum of two times, and the attempts had to be in consecutive years.
- Qualifying examination: Candidates had to appear for Class 12 or an equivalent examination for the first time in 2026 or 2027. Students from Science, Commerce, and Arts & Humanities streams were eligible to appear.
