India Post GDS Service Conditions 2026: India Post GDS के तहत selected candidates को यह समझना जरूरी है कि Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) regular Central Government employees नहीं होते। उनके salary, allowances और अन्य benefits regular Central Government employees के समान नहीं होते। GDS की service conditions Gramin Dak Sevaks (Conduct and Engagement) Rules, 2020 के अनुसार निर्धारित होती हैं।
GDS को मुख्य रूप से rural areas में postal services provide करने के लिए engage किया जाता है। उन्हें सामान्यतः minimum 4 hours और maximum 5 hours per day काम करना होता है और 65 years की age के बाद उन्हें Sevak के रूप में retain नहीं किया जा सकता। इसके अलावा, GDS के पास अपनी और family की livelihood के लिए Government से मिलने वाले allowances के अलावा एक अन्य source of income होना चाहिए।

1. Branch Postmaster (BPM)
BPM का main काम Branch Post Office की day-to-day activities को manage करना होता है। इसमें postal operations और India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) से जुड़े काम शामिल हैं। BPM को Department के products और services की marketing तथा promotion भी करना होता है।
Single-handed Branch Post Office में BPM की overall responsibility होती है, जिसमें mail conveyance और delivery भी शामिल हैं। जरूरत पड़ने पर BPM को ABPM की duties भी perform करनी पड़ सकती हैं।

Selected BPM को अपने खर्च पर Branch Post Office चलाने के लिए accommodation arrange करना होगा। यह accommodation selection के बाद लेकिन engagement से पहले arrange करना होगा। BPM को उसी post village, यानी जिस village में Branch Post Office स्थित है, वहीं reside करना होगा।
2. Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM)
ABPM का काम BPM को postal operations में assist करना होता है। इसके अलावा उसके मुख्य duties में शामिल हैं:
- Stamps और stationery की sale
- Mail को collect और doorstep delivery करना
- Account Office के साथ mail exchange करना
- IPPB से जुड़े deposits, payments और अन्य transactions
- Department के products और services की marketing एवं promotion
- Customer Service Centre (CSC) से जुड़े काम
जरूरत पड़ने पर ABPM को BPM की combined duties भी करनी पड़ सकती हैं। Senior officers द्वारा अन्य duties भी assign की जा सकती हैं।

ABPM को concerned Branch India Post Office की delivery jurisdiction के अंदर reside करना होगा।
3. Dak Sevak
Dak Sevak की posting Post Office, Sorting Office, Mail Office, Transit Mail Office, Delivery Centre या Department के अन्य offices में हो सकती है।
उनके काम में:
- Stamps और stationery की sale
- Mail और parcels की delivery
- Doorstep mail delivery
- IPPB deposits, payments और अन्य transactions
- Mail bags और parcels की handling
- Sorting और transhipment से जुड़े काम
- Post Office के smooth functioning में assistance
- Marketing और business procurement से जुड़े assigned tasks
शामिल हो सकते हैं।
India Post GDS Service Conditions 2026 Accommodation
Dak Sevak को उस Post Office/Head Office/Sub Office की delivery jurisdiction के अंदर reside करना होगा, जिससे वह attached है।

GDS post को apply करने से पहले candidates को इसकी service conditions और residence requirements अच्छी तरह समझ लेनी चाहिए। खासकर BPM candidates को Branch Post Office के लिए accommodation खुद arrange करना होता है, इसलिए application और post preference भरने से पहले इस requirement को ध्यान में रखना जरूरी है।
